2. In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms or conventions of real
media products?
For my magazine, i have decided to add different elements that would persuade my target audience to read my
magazine. for instance, i asked my other peers about what colour theme and font that i should include in my front
cover. This has helped me gain some ideas on how to make it look interesting and what type of image that i should
use to represent the cover as professional and slightly fun-looking e.g i included a photo of me and my friends
smiling in front of the camera. Also, i chose the title for my masthead- “In the News”. this is an appropriate title as it
makes the school magazine more interesting as events happen every month compared to news everywhere. For my
cover lines, i decided not to include too much text as it will make my magazine look to crowded. to make my own

3. How does your product represent social groups?
As my magazine is targeted at students and adults, i have looked at 3 different school magazines and annotated
them on what they add and use to make it look appealing to students. most importantly, i was very specific with the
colour theme as some colours represent a younger and older audience. the colour i chose was blue and green. The
reason for this is that i was trying to make the cover look “cool” to students as most of them gain an interest in
reading a magazine if it’s colourful enough to read. On one of my cell lines, i mostly included brief information aimed
at students such as “art student wins award” This would be the main story as it has a student winning a prize as well
as representing them as hardworking and achieving in and out of school.
4. what kind of media institutions would distribute your product and why?
The institution that would help publish my magazine is the school. I chose the school because they
are in charge of setting and posting magazines every month when there’s a school holiday or parents
or students asking for a copy. Not only I should use the school as my source of distribution, but i am
also going to deliver good news to everyone who receives it. Good news such as a student winning a
prize or clubs that are available for students to sign up on. If they did not receive the magazine, they
can just access it through the school website and if possible, a free app where the audience can get it
easily and quickly.
5. who would be the audience for your media product?
In my opinion, the most suitable target audience for my front magazine cover would mostly be aimed at students
aged 12-18 because i have used other elements of my own in order to reach a wider audience (not just adults) for
example, the layout of my magazine and style.
6. How did you attract/ or address your target audience?
I addressed my audience in a certain way: i used persuasive tone like “find out more” to persuade my
target audience to read more of the contents of the magazine instead of what it says on the front cover.
Furthermore, i have also written my own slogan - “the more you work, the more you achieve” but in
small text which shows that it’s not important to include it anywhere but on top of the masthead. this is
aimed at a younger audience as this is relevant to them. the slogan is very serious but motivating at the
same time.
7. what have you learnt from technologies for the process of constructing this product?
From designing and creating my own school magazine front cover, i have learnt how to use this design
software called Photoshop for creating the cover out of my own picture. According to me, it was a
challenge at the start because I had to understand the art of editing photos and adding text. Another
way that I have learnt something from this is I now know the forms and conventions of school
magazines.
