2. Social :
"Social" refers to the area of social media and thus the associated social software . It
includes not only the typical financed through advertising offers to social platforms for
individual users, but also the interaction between industry about these communication
media and the use of the functions provided within companies.
Mobile :
"Mobile" covers all areas together to portable information and communication
technology. Both components are mobile , and mobile devices such as laptops , smart
phones via wireless networks ( WLAN , GSM , GPRS , UMTS , LTE , etc.) to network
applications ( apps ) can access and communication services.
Analytics :
“Analytics” is the discovery and communication of meaningful patterns in
data. Especially valuable in areas rich with recorded information, analytics relies on the
simultaneous application of statistics, computer programming and operations research to
quantify performance. Firms may commonly apply analytics to business data, to describe,
predict, and improve business performance.
3. Cloud :
Short form of cloud computing (mutatis mutandis: Working in the "cloud", ie an
unspecified memory removed, networks are often associated with the pictogram of a cloud
shown), represents a change in the provision of computer science services are extending through
a site- and device-independent flexible use and thus distinguishes particular, the use of several
different devices with a common central data storage is. The topic cloud includes network
services such. As Dropbox as a network-based data storage, network applications such. as social
media platforms (Facebook, Google+, etc.) and network services for application development .
In short Social ,Mobile, Analytics ,Cloud (SMAC) is an IT trend that impacts enterprises/business and
consumers in a positive and compelling way.
4. The trend of increasing social media ,mobile devices , and cloud computing based technologies are
supposed to capture the whole market in the coming future.
The increasing number of people on social sites demonstrates the increase in the liking of social
media.
Today , companies are increasingly capitalizing on digital ecosystems and are leveraging Social
Networks , Mobile Computing ,Analytics and Cloud Computing . This confluence of technology has
created an environment for production at faster rate , together with customer interaction.
With the consumer technology model penetrating and transforming the corporation in significant
ways , the creation of hyper-intelligent software programs that are able to tackle a number of issues
has transformed business models across the world and SMAC stack is a striking example.
5. In the near future, scalable services (around Infrastructure, testing) will be provided at a lower cost,
freeing capacity to build competence around new technologies – Social, Mobile, Analytics and Cloud.
After a five-year hiatus, drivers for secular growth include-
a) Increased focus on new technology (digital / SMAC)
b) Improved demand for large, long term, integrated services deals.
Enterprise clients will be more inclined to take forward discussions on new technology, which makes
deployment more feasible. SMAC services drive digitisation of business processes and discretionary
spends. This has created a whole new stack of opportunities around:
a) Modernising legacy applications
b) Migration to cloud
c) Usage of Big Data tools
d) Creating mobile (enterprise and consumer) interfaces and solutions
SMAC is fast gaining ground and captivating the interest of decision-makers within large
organisations , because of its ability to make an impact on client business outcomes. A recent
NASSCOM survey showed that SMAC currently accounts for less than 5% of current revenues of
Indian IT companies, but respondents expected it to account for over 20% of revenues by 2020. Hence
the projected growth trajectory for next 3 – 5 years is very high, estimated to be at a CAGR of 50 %.
SMAC / digital will emerge as a key differentiator for the industry. In-depth analysis shows that
proportion of digital/SMAC deals are rising exponentially.
6. As, I have chosen the topic SMAC , my area of interest would be Analytics.
As far as real world application is concerned there would be a good blend of SMAC technology in
Business and IT companies (small scale -large scale industries and Information and technology) .
As I am currently a student , I have closely observed the way through which SMAC technology can be
implemented in Business and IT domain . So , it would be a better as well as innovative approach
under my internship.
