Today, I mean now .. we are going to talk about the environmental factors that might (they do) affect the presentation
It will be presented by me AbdelRahman, Mostafa AbdelRahman, Ashraf Ehab, and Ezz El-Din …
How do you feel when you see this room or this….
Which do you think is better?
Alright as you could see the Area or the environment where the presentation is held can have a great impact on both the presenter and the audience
Whether it’s the size of it like for instance STADIUM, OPEN FIELD, LECTURE ROOM
OR the seats from their arrangement to design can also affect how audience perceive the presentation, if they’re not comfortable, they’re with their body, not you
Even the location can have an effect .. Imagine a room beside a traffic clustered street, or an isolated room on the 57th floor on some building
All that will be briefly discussed and more in the presentation starting with my and your colleague Mostafa
First, a presentation consists of someone talking or making …”sound”
But sometimes sound is unwanted like Background noise which can extremely affect presenters focus and also the audience attention
But also Audience themselves can make noise distracting the presenter which you clearly don’t (Thank You)
But if there is no noise then the sound is perfect right?? NO
Echo ( the repletion of “sound”) can an prevent vent audience ce hearing clearly
Some places for example (Mosques) are designed to enhance echo and others to prevent it
Using either material of wall or the design of room itself, can you imagine (mindblown)
What else does a presenter make or give?? (wait)
Image yes it’s not a phone call , and how do we see image?? (wait)
Light (Thank you) … wait light can affect the presentation!!
Yes of course the intensity of it for instance, not too bright to get blind and too dim not to see
Also the Angle the eye receives the light .. Wait what.. Yes, a study has shown that for a light source to be comfortable it needs to be at an angle more than 30 degrees
But wait why would we look straight at a light source? We don’t
Which leads us to glare, caused by reflection of light
Which is more comfortable (projector screen)
Now mi amigo Ashraf will have my succession
Mostafa just finished talking about light, but what is light made of
As all of us engineers know…or supposed to know its made out of colours
But are they all good for a presentation?
Lets look here at that color (pause), beautiful right , what about that, or that, or that,
It’s crazy how colors affect you psychologically
Red for example can express thrill, excitement, passion or draw attention.
Yellow means Energy, Awareness, even Relaxation.
Also green can be used for Relaxation, Harmony or balance
And for blue, it presents trust, Honesty and Precision
Which is the best for presentation? Well it depends
Red: something exciting or fun
Yellow: to raise awareness about a problem or something
Green: talk about nature, meditation
Blue: when giving facts or statistics
Now what else can be in the environment? (wait) ( Sadly we’re not talking about it today)
Exactly, yes, weather
Imagine we’re in summer , no air conditioners, windows are closed.. Can you focus?
Well if you can you’re a super human, but most of us can’t, blood pressure rising to the skies, you can feel every heart beat in your brain, sweat.
OH sweat, caused by humidity. That thing that can give you the worst feeling in the world.
Now we have air conditioners and fans ,,good? NO
Fans means Air moving at speed, direct that to your ears and you hear nothing but whhoooo, Mostafa’s efforts gone in vain.
Now Ezz will sum that all up, I’m not as good at math anyways.
So what would you do to prepare the environment for a good presentation?(wait)
Alright first you need to know what place you’re presenting in. Easy right ?
Then you need to see if there’s noise around you and if there some way to avoid it
Also test your own voice to see how it would be heard
You check for the lights of the room, if you want to make them dimmer or brighter
Use suitable colors depending on the topic you’re talking about.
Then Last but not least, right before the presentation, check that weather is suitable and comfortable for the audience
