DATA MATRIX FOR THE WEEK
The festival of lights (Deepawali) brought cheers back to the Indian stock markets as encouraging developments
24th Oct 2011 - 28th Oct 2011 from the global front helped markets participants in shrugging sluggish domestic developments. A week after
plunging by around one and half a percent, Indian equity indices demonstrated an action-packed performance
in the holiday shortened week and jumped to highest levels in around two months. The frontline indices
Weekly Markets skyrocketed by over 6% in the passing week and even went on to regain the important psychological 5,350
Sensex 17,805 6.07% (Nifty) and 17,800 (Sensex) bastions. The week began on a positive note as the sentiments were supported by
European leaders' assurances of an upcoming rescue deal for the region's lingering debt problem and Friday's
Nifty 5,361 6.16% session was the highlight of the week as the European debt deal provided a much needed shot of adrenaline to
Indian bourses and helped them to surge by about 3%. The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex surged by
Gold(US$/oz) 1,744.9 6.24% 1019.50 points or 6.07% to 17804.8during the week ended October 28, 2011. The BSE Mid-cap index gained 163.06
points or 2.67% to 6274.93 and the Small-cap index was up by 134.63 points or 1.97% to 6959.73. On the sectoral
Re/US$ 49 -1.69% front, Metal was the top gainer, On the flipside, Consumer Durables (CD) was the lone loser for the same week.

India's food inflation breaching the psychological barrier inched up to 11.43%, for the week ended October 15
PSU 7,616 3.25 from 10.60% in the previous week. The weekly food inflation measured by the Wholesale Price Index (WPI) is at
6-month high, sustaining the pressure on overall inflation and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). The surge was

WEEK AHEAD
For the up coming week, which would mark the start of the new month, would witness slew of data pouring in such as that of Auto sales number, Cement
dispatches number and Export data. Sugar stocks are expected to hog limelight in the coming week as empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM) on Food is
expected to take a call on sugar exports in the 2011-12 marketing year in the first week of November. On the result front, investors would be eyeing results
of some heavy weights like Maruti, ICICI Bank, Wipro, Hindustan Unilever, Dabur India, NMDC, BPCL, ACC, Ambuja Cements, PNB, HPCL, Ashok
Leyland, ONGC, Bharti Airtel and GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals. On the global front, investor's would be watching out for few important data from
US like Jobless Claims. On the technical grounds, the next level of resistance for Nifty could be around 5400-5410 and any successful break out above this
