The key indices ended with heavy losses following a sharper Nifty Junior 10,775 10,902 (1.17) than expected rate hike by the RBI on May 3. Interest rate sensitives like the Banking, Auto and Realty CNX Midcap 7,833 7,908 (0.94) extended the week’s decline amid concerns of rising borrowing costs. Heavyweights like Ranbaxy, RCOM, PNB, Tata Power, ACC and Sterlite Industries were among the major losers in the Nifty index. While bucking the negative trend were the likes of Hero Honda, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Maruti and Gail India.
