DATA MATRIX FOR THE WEEK
Indian markets finished a disappointing week with over one and half a percent losses and the benchmark indices
17th Oct 2011 - 21st Oct 2011 even lost their hold over the psychological 5,100 (Nifty) and 17,000 (Sensex) levels that they had gained in the
previous week after vehemently rallying over five percentage points. Sentiments in the domestic markets are
once again showing signs of weakening as lack of significant upside triggers on the domestic front and
Weekly Markets discouraging developments from the global front continue to dissuade investors from Indian equities. On the
Sensex 16,786 -1.73% domestic front, disappointing earnings announcement by heavyweights like Reliance Industries, Larsen and
Toubro, HCL Tech and TCS dented investors' morale. The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensex shaved off
Nifty 5,050 -1.60% 279.05 points or 1.74% to 16785.64 during the week ended October 21, 2011. The BSE Mid-cap index was down by
78.05 points or 1.26% to 6111.87 and the Small-cap index down by 82.86 points or 1.20% to 6825.10. The S&P CNX
Gold(US$/oz) 1,642.4 -2.35% Nifty plunged by 82.35 points or 1.60% to 5049.95. On the National Stock Exchange (NSE), Bank Nifty up 34.95
points or 0.36% to 9695.35, CNX IT down 171.20 points or 2.80% to 5948.45, while CNX mid-cap down 127.90
Re/US$ 49.84 1.71% points or 1.79% to 7008.05 and CNX Nifty Junior down 212.35 points or 2.15% to 9682.65.

WEEK AHEAD
The start of the coming week would largely depend on the development on global front. Besides, this a lot of volatility could be expected on account of
expiry of October F&O contracts. Investor's eyes will be on European Union summit on Sunday, investors are hoping its results as an announcement of a
grand plan to ensure that Greece's debt crisis doesn't cause financial contagion. In the holiday shortened week, all eyes will be glued to the RBI Governor,
D Subbarao's monetary policy announcement of October 25, 2011, which is expected to provide further cues for the domestic markets. Indian equity
markets will remain closed on 26 and 27th October on account of Diwali, the festival of lights. However, a special Muhurat trading session would be held
on the bourses from 4:45 pm to 6:00 pm on Wednesday 26 October 2011 on Diwali. Therefore more of a range bound scenario between 4900-5250 could be
