This document outlines an undergraduate thesis proposal for a shopping mall called "City Walk" in Qom, Iran. The proposal introduces Qom and the need for a commercial center to accommodate its growing population. The aims of the project are to attract local and foreign tourists, reflect the urban character of Qom, provide daily necessities, and generate local employment. The methodology will include case studies of successful malls, research on Qom's environment and market, and developing an efficient and aesthetic design that serves the community.

INTRODUCTION
Qom is a city in Iran. It lies 156 kilometers (97 mi) by road southwest of Tehran and is the
capital of Qom Province. At the 2006 census, its population was 957,496, in 241,827 families. It
is situated on the banks of the Qom River.
A shopping mall, shopping centre, shopping precinct or simply mall is one or more buildings
forming a complex of shops representing merchandisers, with interconnecting walkways
enabling visitors to easily walk from unit to unit, along with a parking area — a modern, indoor
version of the traditional marketplace.
Now people like each and every facility under one roof, they don’t have time to walk around in
the city for some specific thing to an specific area. That is why mall came in the existence they
provide more comfort less chaos and a covered area to spend time leisurely.
AIM
• With the increasing commercialization and globalization of the city, development of the
complex would be designed to facilitate and attract the local as well as the foreign
tourist, thereby adding a substantial revenue growth of the city.
• To generate a vocabulary and design temperament of the project for architectural
expression that will reflect the urban character of that place.
• To design as per vernacular architecture of the city Qom.
• To provide things needed for daily uses.
• To help generate employment for local people of Qom.
NEED OF PROJECT
• In the present scenario of globalization & commercialization, city of Qom has grown
rapidly in the recent year. Although the city has grown very well in the recent years in
terms of the infrastructures required, but there has been a continuous need of
commercial centre and shopping malls which could incorporate world class level of
shopping and recreation spaces.

SCOPE AND OBJECTIVE OF PROJECT
• To study the various aspects of a functional and successful mall design
• To study the shopping environment of Qom, its environment and physical
aspect.
• Efficient and aesthetic creation of spaces inside and outside the shopping mall.
• Develop the design as an active retail center
• To develop the facilities & the amenities at the shopping mall which could serve the
people in the most functional way & also to create a perfect ambience, so that people
tends to visit more & more there.
SITE
Site is located at the Moallem road. The site is rectangular in shape and is surrounded
by mixed land use and residential buildings having 30M wide road in front of it.
