2. Faith
Hadith Jibraeel: He said, ‘Tell me about Imaan
(faith).’ He [the Messenger of Allah (saw)]
responded, ‘It is to believe in Allah, His angles,
His books, His messengers, the Last Day and to
believe in the divine decree, [both] the good
and the evil thereof.’

3. Divine Decree
Indeed, all things We created with predestination [54:49]
3
There is not to be upon the Prophet any discomfort concerning that which
Allah has imposed upon him. [This is] the established way of Allah with
those [prophets] who have passed on before. And ever is the command of
Allah a destiny decreed .[33:38]
4. Categories in Qadr
The 1st Category:
• Knowledge: The Belief that Allah is all-knowing with respect to his
creation and they act in accordance with his prior knowledge which is
infinite and eternal
• Writing: Then Allah wrote in Preserved tablet the destiny of the
creation
The 2nd Category:
• Will: It is the executed will of Allah and His all-encompassing ability. It is
the belief that whatever Allah has willed will occur and whatever He
has not willed will not
• Creation: Allah has power over all things, existent and non-existent.

5. Divine Knowledge
He is Allah , other than whom there is no deity, Knower of the unseen and
the witnessed. He is the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful. [59:22]
5
It is Allah who has created seven heavens and of the earth, the like of them.
[His] command descends among them so you may know that Allah is over
all things competent and that Allah has encompassed all things in
knowledge.[65:12]
6. Writing of Decrees
Indeed, it is We who bring the dead to life and record what they have put
forth and what they left behind, and all things We have enumerated in a
clear register.[36:12]
6
Allah eliminates what He wills or confirms, and with Him is the Mother of the
Book.[13:39]
7. Writing of Decrees
7
First: The writing fifty thousand years before the creation of the heavens and the earth,
when Allah created the Pen, this is the Eternal Decree.
Second: The Life-time Decree, when He took the Covenant when He said to them, “Am I
not your Lord?”
Third: The Life-time Decree, when the mixed drop of male and female sexual discharge
is given life inside the womb
Fourth: The Annual Decree, on the Night of Power (Laylatul-Qadr).
Fifth: The Daily Decree, which is carrying out all of the above decrees at their proper
times and places.
8. First: Eternal Decree
No disaster strikes upon the earth or among yourselves except that it is in a
register before We bring it into being - indeed that, for Allah , is easy[57:22]
8
9. 2nd: The Life-time Decree
And [mention] when your Lord took from the children of Adam - from their loins
- their descendants and made them testify of themselves, [saying to them],
"Am I not your Lord?" They said, "Yes, we have testified." [This] - lest you should
say on the day of Resurrection, "Indeed, we were of this unaware.“[7:172]
9
10. 3rd: The Life-time Decree
Those who avoid the major sins and immoralities, only [committing] slight ones.
Indeed, your Lord is vast in forgiveness. He was most knowing of you when He
produced you from the earth and when you were fetuses in the wombs of your
mothers. So do not claim yourselves to be pure; He is most knowing of who fears
Him..“[53:32]
10
11. 4th: Annual Decree on the Night of Power
On that night is made distinct every precise matter; [Every] matter
[proceeding] from Us. Indeed, We were to send [a messenger] [44:4-5]
11
12. 5th : Daily Decree
Whoever is within the heavens and earth asks Him; every day He is bringing
about a matter. [55:29]
12
This, Our record, speaks about you in truth. Indeed, We were having transcribed
whatever you used to do.". [45:29]
Allah eliminates what He wills or confirms, and with Him is the Mother of the
Book. [13:39]
13. Divine will
And you do not will except that Allah wills. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing
and Wise.[76:30]
13
But those who deny Our verses are deaf and dumb within darkness.
Whomever Allah wills - He leaves astray; and whomever He wills - He
puts him on a straight path [6:39]
14. Creations
Allah is the Creator of all things and He is the Guardian over all[39:63]
14
Allah is the one who created you, then provided for you, then will cause you to die,
and then will give you life. Are there any of your "partners" who does anything of
that? Exalted is He and high above what they associate with Him [30:40]
15. Do the creatures have the ability and
will to do their actions?
15
Certainly, they do. The creatures do have the ability, wish and will to do their
actions, and their actions are actually attributed to them. It is on that basis that
they are held accountable for their actions. Thus, they are rewarded and
punished because of their actions. Furthermore, Allah has not made them
responsible for that which they cannot handle. Allah has affirmed that in the
Scripture and the Sunnah and described them in that way…

Editor's Notes
The word qada’ means perfection and completion, and the word qadar means evaluating and planning. Qadar means Allaah’s decree of all things from eternity, and His knowledge that they will come to pass at the times that are known to Him and in the specific manner that He has decreed and willed. They will happen the way they are meant to and the way they are created.
The first level of Qadar consists of having belief in Allaah’s knowledge which encompasses everything. This verse addresses Allaah’s knowledge of the unseen worlds as well as the visible.
The Prophet (PBUH) explained that “Allah had written the ordained measures (and due proportions) of the creation, fifty thousand years before the creation of the heavens and the earth and His ‘Arsh was on the water.” [Muslim]
And the Prophet (SAW) said: “The first thing that Allaah created was the Pen, and He said to it, ‘Write!’ It said, ‘O Lord, what should I write?’ He said: ‘Write down the decrees of all things until the Hour begins.”
