4. Get to know Allah
Allah the Almighty said: I am as My servant thinks I am. I am with him when
he makes mention of Me. If he makes mention of Me to himself, I make
mention of him to Myself; and if he makes mention of Me in an assembly, I
make mention of him in an assembly better than it. And if he draws near to
Me an arm's length, I draw near to him a cubit, and if he draws near to Me
a cubit, I draw near to him a fathom. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to
him at speed. (1) Another possible rendering of the Arabic is: "I am as My
servant expects Me to be". The meaning is that forgiveness and acceptance
of repentance by the Almighty is subject to His servant truly believing that
He is forgiving and merciful. However, not to accompany such belief with
right action would be to mock the Almighty. It was related by al-Buhkari
(also by Muslim, at-Tirmidhi and Ibn-Majah).
5. Our Religion
The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: Al-Islam implies that you testify
that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah, and
you establish prayer, pay Zakat, observe the fast of Ramadan, and perform
pilgrimage to the (House) if you are solvent enough (to bear the expense of) the
journey.
He (the inquirer) said: You have told the truth. He (Umar ibn al-Khattab) said: It
amazed us that he would put the question and then he would himself verify the
truth.
He (the inquirer) said: Inform me about Iman (faith). He (the Holy Prophet)
replied: That you affirm your faith in Allah, in His angels, in His Books, in His
Apostles, in the Day of Judgment, and you affirm your faith in the Divine Decree
about good and evil.
He (the inquirer) said: You have told the truth. He (the inquirer) again said: Inform
me about al-Ihsan (performance of good deeds).
He (the Holy Prophet) said: That you worship Allah as if you are seeing Him, for
though you don't see Him, He, verily, sees you.

6. Following the Sunnah
There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent pattern for
anyone whose hope is in Allah and the Last Day and [who] remembers Allah
often.[Surah Ahzab:21)
It is not for a believing man or a believing woman, when Allah and His Messenger
have decided a matter, that they should [thereafter] have any choice about their affair.
And whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has certainly strayed into clear
error.[Surah Ahzab:36]
And whoever opposes the Messenger after guidance has become clear to him and
follows other than the way of the believers - We will give him what he has taken and
drive him into Hell, and evil it is as a destination. [Surah Nisa : 115]

7. Performing Salah
“What has caused you to enter into the terrible torment?’ They said: ‘We
were not of those who used to pray’.” (surah al-Muddaththir: 42-43)
ConnectingPhysically
The Prophet said: “The first thing that the people will be called to account for
on the Day of Resurrection will be the prayers. Our Lord will say to the angels
although He knows better: ‘Look into the prayer (formal obligatory prayer) of
my servant to see if he observed it perfectly or has been negligent in it.’ So if he
observed it perfectly it will be recorded to his credit, but if he had been
negligent in it in any way, Allah would say: ‘See if My servant has any extra
prayers.’ Then if he has any extra prayers, Allah would say: ‘Make up the
deficiency in My servant’s obligatory prayer with his supererogatory prayers.’
Thereafter all his actions will be examined in like manner” (Abu Dawud).
The Messenger of Allah(saw) said, “If there was a river at your door and he took a bath in
it five times a day, would you notice any dirt on him?” They said, “Not a trace of dirt would
be left.” The Prophet said, “That is the parable of the five prayers by which Allah removes
sins.” [Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 505, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 667]

O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed
upon those before you that you may become righteous[Surah Baqarah:183]
Abu Umama (radiAllahu anhu) said: Oh Messenger of Allah, tell me of an action by
which I may enter paradise. Prophet(saw): Take to fasting, there is nothing like it.
[An-Nasai, Ibn Hibban, Al-Hakim]
1 – General voluntary fasts: The Muslim may observe a voluntary fast on any day of the year that he wishes,
except those which are known to be forbidden, such as the two Eid days, on which fasting is haraam, and
Ayaam al-Tashreeq (the three days following Eid al-Adha). Also excluded is deliberately singling out Friday for
fasting, because it was reported that this is not allowed. One of the best forms of voluntary fasting is to fast
alternate days for those who are able to do that
2 – Specific voluntary fasts:
• The weekly fasts are on Monday and Thursday
• Fasting on 3 days of every Arabic month( 13/14/15 – White Days)
• The day of ‘Aashoora’ which is the tenth of Muharram
• The day of ‘Arafaah, which is the ninth day of Dhu’l-Hijjah

Zakatul – Fitr: It is obligatory charity in food items due at the end of Ramadan
And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere
to Him in religion, inclining to truth, and to establish prayer and to give
Zakah. And that is the correct religion. (98:5)
"The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful,
and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they
rely - The ones who establish prayer, and from what We have provided them, they spend.
Those are the believers, truly. For them are degrees [of high position] with their Lord and
forgiveness and noble provision." (Quran 8:2-4).
Believe in Allah and His Messenger and spend out of that in which He has made you
successors. For those who have believed among you and spent, there will be a great
reward.[57:7]

1: Recitation of Quran :
Whoever reads one letter from the Book of Allaah will earn one good (hasanah) thereby. One good
deed is equal to ten good deeds the like of it. I do not say that Alif-Lam-Mim is a letter, but Alif is a
letter, Laam is a letter and Meem is a letter.
2: Recite the “dearest phrases to Allah”
The dearest phrases to Allah are four: Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah), Al-Hamdulillah (Praise be to
Allah), La ilaha illa-Allah (There is no deity but Allah), Allahu Akbar (Allah is Greater). There is no
harm for you in which of them you begin with (while remembering Allah). (Sahih Muslim)
