Why good teachers plan their work.
• 1. It makes life much easier for you in the classroom.
• 2. It saves time.
• 3. You lmow what you will need for each lesson.
• 4. You can more easily see how to balance your lessons.
• 5. It gives you security and confidence that you pass to your pupils.
• 6. It allows you to enjoy what you're doing.
• 7. You can take your time to monitor.
• 8. pupils notice and like it.
Long term planning
• It takes place before or at the beginning of the term
• You must check the contents of the textbooks to ensure continuity
and see the topics it offers
• If you do not have a textbook, think on what you want to teach
and how you want to cover it
• Chech of your topics cross with other subjects to cooperate with
other teachers.
• Always be aware of the materials at your disposal
Short term planning
• It usually covers from one to ten lessons
• Make note of the materials the students and you will have to make
• Decide in the language items you will teach
• Make sure you know the items
• Find activities that suit you and your unit
• Decide on how you will assess the unit
• Don't make it too detailed
Lesson planning
• Has to be done before every lesson
• Decide when and how to use groupwork
• Link the lessons
• Take note of the time of day
• Indicate the length of the duration of each activity
• It is better to have more activities than less
• Make sure you analyze your lesson plans after they are
implemented to note areas for future improvement
• Always be prepared for possible errors and misshaps during
class and think on how you would handle them.
