Q&A
Webinar Agenda
4. • Primary education: Schools must make a good faith effort to reach all incoming students and new
employees with primary prevention and awareness training*
• Annual ongoing education: All current students and employees must be offered ongoing prevention
and awareness campaigns that are sustained over time and visible throughout the year***
• Annual ongoing education should focus on increasing understanding of topics relevant to and skills
for addressing dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking***
• All enrolled students should be offered training, not just students who are regularly on campus**
• Institutions must be able to document on Annual Security Report (ASR) that they have met these
regulatory requirements***
*VAWA Reauthorization Act of 2013, section 304 (Clery Act Amendments); 34 CFR § 668.46(j)
** Dept. of Education comments on Final Regulations, Fed. Register, 10/20/14, at 62770

6. INSTITUTIONALIZATION
CRITICAL PROCESSES
POLICY
PROGRAMMING
The degree of system-wide buy-in, visible commitment, and
meaningful investment in effective prevention initiatives
The strategic, collaborative, and research informed translation of
resources (staff/budget) into effective policies and programs
The values and expectations of the institution and its community,
and the system of accountability to uphold and enforce them
The intentional development, multi-modal design, and targeted delivery of
prevention programs and messages that will maximize impact
Framework For Comprehensive Prevention
7. EVERFI's white paper, Effective Ongoing
Prevention and Awareness Education Programs,
covers the ongoing education requirements
outlined in the Clery Act Amendments while
also explaining how to implement these
practices for maximum impact

8. Best Practice
• Training incorporates evolving research/regs
• Single dose programs lack sustained impact
• Norms hinge on data, behavioral modeling
• Ongoing data needed for targeted training
• Highly visible ongoing training demonstrates
institutional commitment, impacts climate
