Electrical designer to complete a SCADA upgrade at a Chevron Oil Refinery. The design
of all tray and the installation details is my present assignment.
AutoCAD is being used to complete the drawing package. Some checking of other
packages is also required.
Weatherly Engineering, Atlanta, Ga 2/2014 - 11/2014
Designing the lighting and circuiting for a nitrogen plant being re-assembled in the
United States.
Designing lighting and circuitry for two additions to a chemical plant as well as checking
drawing packages for other projects.
AutoCAD, SmartPlant Review 3-D and Navisworks 3D was the software used.
Ford Bacon & Davis Engineering, Baton Rouge, LA 5/2013 - 12/2013
Electrical Area Lead to design the necessities for a new building on an existing chemical
plant site.
Worked directly with the project lead engineer and had two designers working for me.
We completed drawing packages including single lines, grounding, hazardous area
classification, motor elementary, load lists, panel layouts, tray and cable routing, lighting,
MCC building layout and controls.
Checked the electrical drawing packages for the other projects being done at the plant
site. This assignment was successfully completed.
AutoCAD and Navisworks 3D were used as drawing software.
2. Jacobs Engineering, Greenville, SC 9/2011 - 1/2013
Electrical Area Lead over a team of electrical engineers and designers assigned to
engineer a polysilicon manufacturing facility.
My team was successful in completing the electrical design for the building which
handled one of the most integral and complicated steps in the process.
Included the entrance security system and safety design for transformer rooms and
automated equipment.
Accomplished this assignment on schedule and with more under budget hours than any
other team.
AutoCAD and Navisworks 3D were used as drawing software.
Shaw Areva MOX Services, Aiken, SC 04/09-09/11
Worked for the MOX project team from January 2004 through February 2006 and have
been back with the team since April 2009.
This project involved designing a fully automated production line for the Department of
Energy which handles uranium and plutonium nuclear material.
Worked as the Executive Electrical Lead having first filled the Lead Unit Designer
position.
My electrical engineering team designed the automated handling equipment for the fuel
rod assembly process prior to fueling which included safety sensors, light curtains, e-
stops and personnel safety equipment required by the NRC and DOA.
Fulfilled the research necessary for the design of the security camera system which
monitored the interior and exterior of the MOX building.
Responsible for have been on schedule or early.
A letter of reference from the MOX Engineering Project Manager is available.
Mustang Engineering, Greenville, SC 10/08 – 4/09
Quality Consultant, (checker), the Electrical Department Administrator requested that all
drawing packages for a large Eastman project be pre-approved before being sealed by
him as a registered engineer.
With the design being paramount, the second effort was to synchronize the design
efforts in three different areas of work which had different electrical leads and design
teams.
The drawing packages included cable schedules, termination schedules, instrument
lists, grounding plans, single lines and MCC layouts, conduit and equipment layouts,
power distribution plans, cable tray layouts and fill calculations, communication routing
plans, fire protection layouts and details, motor elementary, demolition plans and
detailed work instruction sheets for construction.
This project was successfully completed April, 2009. A letter of reference is available.
Fluor Engineering, Greenville, SC 6/08 - 10/08
Lead electrical designer to help finish a fast tracked Polysilicon manufacturing facility.
The project was a few months from completion and very behind schedule which required
60 or more hours weekly.
Assigned all electrical necessities for the main control building and the sub-station
building which included room and equipment layouts, lighting, medium voltage, low
voltage and auxiliary tray layouts, Motor Control Centers, cable schedules, load lists,
panel schedules, lighting, departmental co-ordination
Oversee the work of two Jr. Engineers and prioritize and assign CAD drawing
requirements for all project drafters. The project was successfully completed.
3. Completed CAD work using Microstation J and AutoCAD.
SmartPlant Review was used to complete another main responsibility which was
checking drawing packages before issue. A letter of reference is available.
Shaw Engineering, Charlotte, NC 10/07 – 5/08
Worked for the Physical Group on a steam power plant.
Completed several preliminary packages of installation details including grounding,
conduit, duct bank, lighting and cable tray.
Created using Microstation V8.
SNC Lavalin, Seattle, WA 11/06 – 10/07
Design of a combined cycle steam generated power plant primarily involved the
placement of instruments and safety equipment in a 3D model generated in AutoDesk
Navisworks Jetstream V5.
The instrument representations were created using AutoCAD 3D.
We created loop sheets and wiring diagrams using the Bentley Instrumentation and
Wiring 2004 program.
Lead for creating the wiring schedule for all instruments within the plant.

Day and Zimmerman, Greenville, SC 1/06 – 11/06
Checking control packages to designing motor control centers and sub-stations,
demolition and replacement of refrigeration systems and controls, duct banks, extensive
tray additions to existing buildings with absolute placement requirements.
Responsibilities included extensive client interaction involving the coordination of highly
secretive chemical process control drawing packages.
Software included Microstation J and AutoCAD 2006
Duke, Cogema, Stone & Webster, Aiken, SC 1/04 – 2/06
Design of the automated MOX (Mixed Oxide) facility and the glove boxes which house
the automated process of creating pellets using a mixture of plutonium and uranium.
These pellets will be loaded into fuel rods for use in designated nuclear power plants.
This is a completely automated process with a redundant safety system.
Position with the electrical design team was the design of required monitoring and safety
sensors and creation of complete drawing packages including the necessary wiring back
to the PLC and PEP (personnel and equipment protection) cabinets with attention to the
stringent design criteria set forth by the Department of Energy and the National
Regulatory Commission.
Autocad 2004 and other software was used.
PETROFAC Petroleum, Tyler, TX 1/03 – 9/03
United States Department of Energy. My assignment was to design and size, as
required by the NEC and the Government specs for this job, an electrical cable tray
system. It required almost 3 miles of tray.
Responsible for all necessary field supports.
The design effort required using a 3-D package to assure that the tray routing did not
interfere with existing steel structures, piping or the fire protection system that had
already been designed and approved.
4. A significant effort of coordination with the piping and structural departments was
required.
This project was successfully completed using Autocad 2002.
SOUTHERN COMPANY, Atlanta, GA 4/01 – 8/02
Electrical department coordinating the design on two different power plant upgrade
projects
Each required a considerable amount of fieldwork.
Electrical drawings required included panel layouts, power distribution, MCC design,
operator interface and enclosure modifications including complete bills of material.
Multi-tasking between the electrical department and the controls department
Helped to facilitate a Fox Control System that automates the coal burners in the power
plant.
Responsibilities included taking field measurements and making sketches to document
the location of new and existing equipment.
The controls documentation package included all necessary control loops.
The software used for this project was Autocad 2002.
FUJI Film Corporation, Greenwood, SC 2/01 – 4/01
Designed the necessities for the rebuild of several older existing hardwired Honey-Well
boards utilizing an Allen-Bradley Control Net operating system.
This included three large cabinet layouts with a total of seven racks (13 slots) and all
necessary cards, IFM's, cabling, cooling systems, power supplies, etc.
This was accomplished in a short period of time to meet the shut-down schedule.
Autocad 2000i drawing package.
Automation Tool Company, Greer, SC 1/99 - 1/01
Mechanical detailer using AutoCAD 2000.
At the completion of the first project, began the Electrical design on a one million dollar,
single cell, conveyor assembly line.
Responsibilities included complete design, AutoCAD 2000i documentation, and the
procurement of all electrical and safety sensors and components.
Moved to the shop and helped build the systems, as well as supervising the electrical
personnel involved.
This system utilized an Allen-Bradley Device Net operating system. The project was
successfully completed.
Advanced Automation, Greenville, SC 1/97 - 1/99
Controls design and documentation.
Responsibilities included: reviewing new product information for integration into existing
automation machinery, developing cable specifications, supervision of cable
manufacturers sub-contract work, coordinating vendors with changes necessary to meet
individual machine design requirements.
Electrical drawings required included: panel layouts, power distribution, input/output
module schematics, wiring details, operator interface, safety sensors and light cutains,
enclosure modifications.
Field documentation was required.
Packages were constructed using "AutoCAD" Rel. 14.
5. Centex Homes, Greenville, SC (13 months concurrent w/above project)
Architectural design and documentation.
Responsibilities included the implementation of a non-existing “CAD” department,
including purchasing all computers, printers and software as well as hiring and
supervising drafters.
A regional architect and spent three days, twice a year, hand sketching suggested floor
plans.
Creating complete sets of drawings for their builders.
Each set included: footer layout, front and back view, both side views, first and second
floor plans, roof plan and electrical plan.
This was a “part-time” evening and weekend position requiring a minimum 30 hours a
week. Packages were constructed using “AutoCAD” Rel. 14.
Control Dynamics, Greenville, SC 9/95 - 5/96
Managing the requirements necessary for completion of electrical and controls
documentation packages.
Drawings included: panel layouts, power distribution, input/output module schematics,
wiring details, operator interface, enclosure modifications, all with complete bills of
material.
Successfully completed documentation packages for fifty-five projects during this time
period.
The company became financially stressed and chose to go back to Advanced
Automation.
Advanced Automation, Greenville, SC 1/93 - 9/95
Personally responsible for the design and complete electrical documentation packages
for several multi-million dollar projects.
Daily walk downs were required in the field to continually supply as-built drawings for as
many as eight simultaneous projects.
Documents included in package were: panel layouts, power distribution, input/output
module schematics, wiring details, operator interface, safetysensors, enclosure
modifications, all with complete bills of material.
Software used was "AutoCAD" Rel. 13.
Fluor Daniel Engineering, Greenville, SC 8/92 - 12/92
Assigned to design as well as co-ordinate drafting assignments among project drafters
necessary to complete the documentation on a pulp and paper project.
Successfully finalized all the drawing packages for electrical and instrumentation and
was reassigned to a fast paced, select group, who worked on several projects
simultaneously.
Primary efforts were focused on electrical necessities involved in replacing machinery for
a new product start-up.
Drawings included: motor and miscellaneous elementaries, grounding plans, lighting
plans, power distribution, single lines, UPS schematics, wiring diagrams, P&ID's, panel
layouts, interconnect diagrams, instrument power plans, safety equipment placement,
panel schedules for lighting and power, single lines as well as cable schedules.
"AutoCAD" was the software package used.
6. Burdette-DeVita Engineering, Greenville, SC 5/91 – 2/92
Help facilitate the completion of several large projects involving several school designs
and hospital reformations.
Primary disciplines were architectural, instrumentation and electrical.
Various disciplines were required for subsequent projects including architectural, HVAC,
and mechanical.
All drawings were constructed using "AutoCAD".
EBASCO Engineering, Atlanta, GA 10/90 - 5/91
Contract required a concentrated effort with the designer to successfully run conduit
using piping diagrams and architectural plans to coordinate with existing structures.
Drawings included a large amount of wire tray and bus duct.
Grounding plans were also generated.
All drawings were constructed using "AutoCAD".
Englehard, Seneca, SC 6/89 - 10/90
Disciplines required: Piping, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, and HVAC.
Successfully completed two contracts for Englehard.
These contracts involved the construction of piping and instrumentation drawings and
their support structures and platforms.
These were used in the design of a new wastewater management system.
Other drawings during this assignment included details of the Halon fire protection
system, architectural floor plan layouts detailing existing HVAC, piping risers, flow charts
and mechanical details.
All drawings were constructed using a "CADVANCE" software package.
