Leadership Theories:
The primary objective of this assignment is to provide the student with a brief preview of
future leadership theories, models, concepts, and terminology. This preview will assist the
student quickly identify instances of theories, models, concepts, and terminology for the purpose
of being able to articulate the significance of each and aid in practical applications of each
theory.
This preview serves additional purposes as well. It is understood that the veteran student
faces some unique administrative challenges; namely the intelligent consumption of their
educational benefits and their desire to quickly expedite the amount of time spent in college and
separate from the workforce. As veterans of the military, these students are receptive to the
concept of repetition. This preview is a step towards instilling the necessary motivation to
achieve academic success by providing them with enough of a glimpse of the degree coursework
that they can make an early, educated determination regarding their desire to continue in this
course of study.

Student Reflections and Reporting to the Student
The importance of stressing the transitional period cannot be overstated. We want these
students to feel comfortable and welcome during their time here in Aggie-land. To support this
the content for this assignment is going to be student-driven.
Questions are likely to range from, “Where do I go for this?” to “How do I go about
doing that?” There is likely going to be questions/comments that might first appear to be quite
bizarre or unusually specific. Learning is a two-way, two-person process and these inquiries need

to be recorded, cataloged, organized, and reviewed so that future generations of educators can
better assist future generations of veteran students.
