Question 4 evaluation
1. 4. How did you use new media
technologies in the construction and
research, planning and evaluation
stages?
By Mervedy Mpinda
2. Having media technologies allows us to bring together my understanding of software,
hardware and online tools, which interact in my project.
Software is the programs used to direct the operation of a computer, as well as
documentation giving instructions on how to use them and on video game consoles.
Hardware is the mechanical equipment necessary for conducting an activity, usually
distinguished from the theory and design that make the activity possible.
OR, the mechanical, magnetic, electronic, and electrical devices comprising a
computer system, as the CPU, disk drives, keyboard, or screen.
Introduction
3. Web 2.0
Describes the phase f the internet where the focus shifts from people
receiving information and services to people creating and sharing material.
Defined by collaboration, social networking and the democratic development
and distribution of content by ordinary people.
PROSUMER = Producer + Consumer
Participation; being involved in writing a comment under a youtube video.
Creativity; it has allowed us to be more creative with what we do
Interaction; it allows us to give feedback to people and our views
Collaboration; people coming together e.g. a blog o music video
Connecting; with people allows you to reach other people
Convergence; the coming together of different technologies
Prosumer; producers are also consumers and consumers are also producers.

4. Research & Planning
For my research I utilised Google and YouTube predominantly in order to find secondary
forms of music videos as well as theory to help support my ideas. This allowed me to
effectively analyse the conventions used and consider the possibilities of how I may use
them in my video. Initially I had already decided what song I wanted to do with my group
and discussed this with them. It took us a while to choose and plan what we wanted to
portray in our music video because we were indecisive about it. We then came to our
conclusion of what the scenes were going to involve.
5. Construction
When constructing our music video, we had to take at least two of the same shots so that if
one was not good we could use the other. The software we used was Final Cut Pro. This
allowed us to link the music and video clips we had taken. After the first shoot we realised
that we needed more footage as there was not enough for our video.
Without having a digital camera t take the footage we needed, it would be difficult to make a
music video.
6. Evaluation
I had used Blogger in order to record my evaluation. This meant that I had
to blog more, however I fell I did that more in my AS blog than my A2 blog.
Using blogger had its advantages and disadvantages. It allowed me post
whenever I needed to, upload images, videos, and other ways of being
creative whilst going through the A2 process.
