“Teachers make somewhere between 800 and 1,500
decisions every day...As a result, for most, it is
extremely difficult to step back and take in everything
that is happening in the class while teaching.” - Jim
Knight
We are committed to celebrating your instructional practice.
In Year 1 of the LEAP Video Pioneers pilot, we set out to answer 3
key questions with 40 LEAP Teams across DCPS:
LEAP Video Pioneers
7
Which uses for video are most effective for LEAP
teams to use for professional development in varying
contexts?
What types of video technology best capture quality
footage of teacher practice?
Does video observation and feedback increase the
effectiveness of instructional feedback between LEAP
Leads and LEAP Team members?

97% of participating teachers said that participating in the pilot has
helped them to improve their practice.
98% of participating teachers reported that video offered them an
