Input and output devices allow users to interact with computers. Input devices, like keyboards and mice, allow users to enter data. Keyboards contain standard keys and come in wired or wireless varieties. Mice control on-screen pointers and come in digital, analog, or mechanical forms. Scanners capture images and microphones input audio. Output devices, such as monitors, printers, and speakers convey information. Monitors come in LCD, LED, or CRT varieties. Printers include dot matrix, inkjet, laser, line, and thermal printers.
2. What is Computer Device?
Computer device is any internal or external hardware that attaches to
a computer to send, receive, or process data. For example, a printer is
an example of a device.

3. INPUT DEVICES
• Input devices are a part of computer that allow the use to control and
adjust an electronic device.
• An input device is any hardware component that allows you to enter
data and instructions onto a computer.
• Input Devices are many types: Keyboard, Mouse, Printer, Light pen,
Scanner, Trackball, camera, barcode reader, touch pad, microphone,
webcam etc.
4. Keyboard
• keyboard is the primary text input device.
• The keyboard also contains certain standard
function keys, such as the Escape key, tab,
numeric, alphabetical key, function Key, arrow
key etc.
• Keyboard are two type wire keyboard and
wireless keyboard.
5. Mouse
• Originally referred to as an X-Y Position Indicator for a Display
System, a mouse is a hardware input device that was invented
by Douglas Engelbart in1963 .
• The mouse allows an individual to control a pointer in a graphical user
interface (GUI) and manipulate on-screen objects such as icons, files,
and folders.
• Mouse are three types:
1) Digital Mouse
2) Analog Mouse
3) Mechanical Mouse
6. Scanner
•Scanner is a light sensitive device that helps
• you copy or capture images, photos, and
•artwork that exist on paper.
7. Microphones
• Microphones are used to input audio
• Three main types of microphones are:
•Desktop microphones
•Headsets
•Directional microphones
• Speech recognition is increasingly being included in
application software
8. OUTPUT DEVICES
• An output device is any hardware component that conveys
information to one or more people.
• Three commonly used output devices Monitor LED(Light Emissive
device), LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), CRT (Cathode Ray Tube), Printers
(all types), Plotters, Projector, Speakers etc.
9. Monitor
•The monitor is the piece of computer hardware that
displays the video and graphics information
generated by the computer through the video card.
• Monitors come in three major types – LCD, LED
and CRT.
10. PRINTERS
• printer is a device that accepts text and graphic output from a
computer and transfers the information to paper, usually to standard
size sheets of paper.
• Types of Printers:
• dot-matrix: Creates characters by striking pins against an ink ribbon.
Each pin makes a dot, and combinations of dots form characters and
illustrations.
• ink-jet: Sprays ink at a sheet of paper. Ink-jet printers produce high-
quality text and graphics.
• laser: Uses the same technology as copy machines. Laser printers
produce very high quality text and graphics.
11. • line printer: Contains a chain of characters or pins that print an entire
line at one time. Line printers are very fast, but produce low-quality
print.
• thermal printer: An inexpensive printer that works by pushing heated
pins against heat-sensitive paper. Thermal printers are widely used
in calculators and fax machines.
