4. CLIMATE
Bangladesh China
The climate of Bangladesh is subtropical in the center-north
and tropical in the south, with a pleasantly warm and sunny
winter from November to February, a short hot spring
between March and May, and a long rainy season from June
to October due to the summer monsoon. The country is flat
and occupied by the huge Ganges-Brahmaputra Delta, and
it's therefore exposed to floods as well as to storm surges
when cyclones hit the Bay of Bengal.
China's climate varies from bitter cold in winter to
unbearable heat in summer. The Yangtze River serves as
China's official dividing line between north and south. Given
the size and varied landscape of the country, there is no one
time in the year when Chinese weather is ideal. Of course,
the warmest areas in winter are to be found in the South
and Southwest, such as Sichuan, Banna in Yunnan, and
Hainan Island. In summer the coolest spots are in the far
northeast.
The six seasons of Bangladesh are,
1. Summer
2. Rainy season
3. Autumn
4. Late Autumn
5. Winter and
6. Spring.

5. ENVIRONMENT - CURRENT ISSUES
Bangladesh China
many people are landless and forced to live on and
cultivate flood-prone land; waterborne diseases
prevalent in surface water; water pollution, especially
of fishing areas, results from the use of commercial
pesticides; ground water contaminated by naturally
occurring arsenic; intermittent water shortages
because of falling water tables in the northern and
central parts of the country; soil degradation and
erosion; deforestation; destruction of wetlands; severe
overpopulation with noise pollution
air pollution (greenhouse gases, sulfur dioxide
particulates) from reliance on coal produces acid rain;
China is the world's largest single emitter of carbon
dioxide from the burning of fossil fuels; water
shortages, particularly in the north; water pollution
from untreated wastes; deforestation; estimated loss
of one-fifth of agricultural land since 1949 to soil
erosion and economic development; desertification;
trade in endangered species.
Natural Hazards: droughts; cyclones; much of the
country routinely inundated during the summer
monsoon season
Natural Hazards: frequent typhoons (about five per
year along southern and eastern coasts); damaging
floods; tsunamis; earthquakes; droughts; land
subsidence
volcanism: Active Changbaishan (also known as
Baitoushan), Hainan Dao, and Kunlun although most
have been relatively inactive in recent centuries
