Festivalsin are celebrated in many parts of India, as India is
subdividedinto different Linguistic States . The local governmentin
each State also specifies certain festivals , in additionto central
Government festivals and holidays , dependingon the local population
which have elected them.
India is a multi-cultural country and it is reflected in the Festivalsof
India :
Festivalsof India is about various social ,religious , and national
festivalscelebrated in different parts of India.
India has been rightly described as a sub continent and of its major
festivals, many are region-specific festivalstoo.
There are many festivals which are celebrated as national festivals
;while a number of them are celebrated by members of particular
religious or social groups . India is a land of festivals.These Indian

Diwali is known as the festivals of lights.
It is celebrated because on this day Lord Rama
returned home to Ayodhya after 14 years in exile.
People Decorate their homes so that god lakshmi

People also burst crackers because Diwali is the
festival of light.

Holi is the festival of the colors.
It is celebrated mostly in
North India.

On this day , sisters tie rakhi(a thread) On their

This is celebrated by the sister tying a rakhi then the
brother gives a gift to his sister for praying for his
safety.

Christmas is celebrated by christian because Jesus
christ was born on this day in Bethlehem.
Christmas is celebrated on 25th December.

FESTIVAL
The modern British tradition of celebrating Harvest
festival in churches began in 1843, when the Reverend
Robert Hawker invited parishioners to a special
thanks giving service at his church at Morwenstow in
Cornwall.
We celebrate this day by singing , praying and
decorating our churches with baskets of fruit and
food in an festival known as “Harvest festival”.
15. MAKAR SANKRANTI
It is the India’s oldest and the most colorful harvest
festival , celebrated across the country.

Pongal also referred to as Hindu harvest festival
celebrated by Tamils in India.
