The document discusses the final drafts of a poster and Digi Pak created to promote a music video. For the poster, conventions of dark, edgy rock music were used through lighting and camera angles. The poster image features the band in the location where the music video was filmed. The Digi Pak continues this dark, edgy theme with a blue, black, and white color scheme. It features the song title first on the track listing and enlarges the band logo on the inside cover to make it stand out. In conclusion, consistency across the ancillary texts and music video in terms of lighting, camera work, and character placement helps maintain genre conventions and draws attention to the main product, the music video.

How Effective Combination of Main Product and Ancillary Texts
1. HOW EFFECTIVE IS THE COMBINATION
OF YOUR MAIN PRODUCT AND
ANCILLARY TEXTS?
2. POSTER
• This is the final draft of my main poster being used to promote my music
video. I used other music posters within the same genre to find inspiration and
gain an understanding on the codes and conventions, which helped me create
my final draft. On the poster I have included the social media links so that
audiences can find out more about the band online. The conventions of a rock
music video being dark and edgy sort of feeling was re-created by the use of
lighting and camera angles. The posters image is of the band who are located
in the same place we actually shot the music video which was the drama room.
We used two spotlights which both pointed towards the band but left the rest
of the room in total darkness. The camera angle we used was a slightly low
angle which meant the band was looking down at the camera making them
seem superior and gives off a powerful look.
3. DIGI PAK
• This is my final draft for my Digi Pak. As you can see my Digi Pak
continue to follow the themes of dark and edgy. My colour scheme is a
combination of Blue, Black and White, The Blue being a dark blue to
match the dark theme. I placed the name of the song we re-created as a
music video at the top of the song list on the back of the Digi Pak so
that it was the first one that the audience reads. On the inside cover of
the Digi Pack I placed our band logo in the centre and enlarged it. I
wanted to make the logo really stand out to the audience and get it to
stick into people's heads so that when they see it again they will
instantly know who it is related to.
4. CONCLUSION
• To conclude, my ancillary texts were helpful in maintaining themes and
conventions within our music video as the consistent use of low key
lighting and camera angles along with character positioning made our
creative pieces conventional of the rock music genre. In both my Digi
Pak and poster, my main images were taken in the same place as where
the music video was shot. The reason I did this was that when people
who have brought the CD watch the music video they will recognise the
location where the performers are. This puts more attention on to the
main product we were creating which was 'Back to Me'.
