Edward wakes up in a house with no idea or memory of how he got there. This is his attempt at an escape

1. A HOUSE IN THE VOID

2. INT. STORAGE ROOM. NIGHT.
The storage room is cold, quiet and empty. Edward lays
unconscious on the cold floor as water drips from an above
leaking pipe one drop at a time onto his face. After a few
moments Edward JOLTS awake. coming to Edward in a panic
surveys his surroundings before sitting up onto his knees.
Looking around in shear confusion Edward then clutches at a
bruise present on his head, before slowly standing up.
Surveying the room once more Edward notices a door and sighs
with relief.
However before he can do anything else, the door ever so
slowly CREEKS open revealing darkness on the other side.
Edward calls out to the dark.
EDWARD
Hello? is anyone there?
No response.
EDWARD (CONT'D)
Anyone! whats going on? Hello?
EDWARD (CONT'D)
Where am I? Hey! Answer me!
Again, no response.
Edward begins to walk towards the door when SUDDENLY a
battered flashlight is slid from the darkness directly in
front of Edward.
Edward walks over to the flashlight and picks it up.
Examining it closer the flashlight appears quite old and is
held together mostly by duct tape.
Clicking the on button the light flickers briefly before
staying at a constant shine. Edward points the light into the
darkness uncovering a long empty corridor.
With no other options Edward steps into the corridor.
INT. CORRIDOR.
Edward walks through the darkened corridor, shining his light
on the decoloured and cracked walls. Cockroaches scatter away
from his light as he continues making his way through the
corridor. Stumbling a moment Edward drops to his knees,
clutching his head again. Looking straight ahead Edward sees
the exit, yet it appears almost as a tiny speck in the
distance. Despite this Edward gets up and continues walking.
SUDDENLY Edward's flashlight cuts out. Leaving him in
darkness.

3. 2.
EDWARD
Shit! No
Edward clicks the flashlight on and off with no success
before hitting it with the bottom of his fist. His breathing
becomes faster as he fails to get the flashlight working.
This is interrupted by a loud distorted SCRAPING noise coming
from behind Edward. Edward pauses, his breathing rapid now as
the SCRAPING noise gets louder and louder. Something is
behind him.
Not taking any chances Edward immediately SPRINTS forward in
order to put as much distance as he can from himself and the
noise.
Mid sprint Edward is met with a THUD and falls backwards to
the floor. His flashlight suddenly clicks back on working
again. He points the light forward and sees that the exit
door has suddenly appeared in front of him.
Edward then immediately turns and shines the light back down
the corridor hoping to see what is making the noise. However
he is met with nothing, no noise, no source, just an empty
corridor. Edward gets back up and opens the door leading him
into the next room.
INT. LIVING ROOM.
Edward enters a living room lit by a small chandelier hanging
from the ceiling. The living room appears normal complete
with new looking furniture and a coffee table present in the
middle of the room. On a nearby drawer sits a broken landline
phone. It appears to be the only broken item in the room.
Clicking off his flashlight, Edward sighs with relief
noticing what looks like a front door. A way out. Edward
walks through the living room and over to the door. To his
surprise the door opens easily when trying the handle. Edward
smiles, opening the door.
INT. LIVING ROOM. LOOP ONE.
Expecting to find himself outside, Edward in shock finds
himself in the exact same ROOM. He tries the door handle to
go back but the door is now completely locked.
Turning back to face the room. Edward looks around. The room
is the same, although the furniture now appears to be
slightly tattered and the lights are slightly dimmer.
EDWARD
What the fuck? how?

4. 3.
Breathing heavily, Edward slowly makes his way around the
room, quickly spotting a PHOTOGRAPH placed on the coffee
table. Realizing it wasn't there before Edward goes over to
the photograph and picks it up.
The Photo shows a family. A mother and Father pictured with
their baby son. They look happy, smiles all around. Edward
puts the photograph back down on the table.
Before he can do anything else the SCRAPING noise is heard
again. The light in the room beings to flicker as the noise
gets LOUDER and LOUDER.
Edward runs over to the door. Its LOCKED, the noise increases
in volume as loud BANGS are heard behind the door Edward
entered through. Something is trying to get in.
EDWARD (CONT'D)
Oh shit...
Edward struggles the door handle trying to force it open. The
light flickers some more as the SCRAPING noise and BANGING
continue.
Edward begins trying to bash the door open, shoulder barging
it with extreme force. He takes two attempts with no luck,
just as he hits his third attempt the light cuts out leaving
the room in DARKNESS...something breaks into the room.
Frightened for his life, Edward shoulder barges the door
extra hard. Something is heard slowly creeping its way across
the room to him.
EDWARD (CONT'D)
Fuck...Fuck...come on!
With all his strength Edward takes one last
attempt...swinging the door open. Diving into the next room
Ethan immediately shuts the door behind him, blocking it shut
with a nearby chair and stumbles away from the door.
INT. LIVING ROOM. LOOP TWO.
Trembling and taking a moment to catch his breath, Edward's
gaze is fixated on the blocked door.
EDWARD
What was that?
Edward then turns around revealing that he is once again
standing in the same living room. The room is barely lit as
the light dimly shines from the chandelier that is now
swinging side to side in small movements.
Edward looks around in shock and fear.

EDWARD (CONT'D)
I dont...I dont understand...How?
He notices the photograph again. This time it is placed face
down on the table. Edward walks over to the table and picks
up the photograph. It's the same. A smiling mother and father
and their baby son.
Edward looks closer at the photograph, something looks off
about it. Examining it further, Edward realises the
photograph is MOVING. The expressions of the mother and
father change in an instant to a frightened look and their
son is shown crying.
As Edward stares at the photo in fearful confusion a variety
of small insects BURST from the picture. Reacting in disgust
Edward drops the photograph its frame breaking as it hits the
floor. Immediately after, the broken PHONE suddenly begins to
RING.
A frightened Edward heads over to it picking it up. His voice
trembles upon his answer.
EDWARD (CONT'D)
Hello?
The phone is silent for a few seconds, before struggled
breathing is heard from the caller. The breathing continues
rapidly becoming distorted. The phone line CUTS. Edward looks
at the phone for a moment before putting it down.
EDWARD (CONT'D)
Ok...Ok I've gotta get outta here
Edward makes his way to the door. Squeezing his eyes shut he
takes a deep breath before turning the handle and entering
the next room.
INT. LIVING ROOM. LOOP THREE.
Fear and frustration consume Edward's face. He's in the same
room again.
EDWARD
Seriously with this shit...
Again, the chandelier swings back and forth with a dragging
creek, shining what little light remains within the room. It
is a mess. Gone is the newish look of the furniture, the
entire room is ruined and broken.
IMMEDIATELY the Phone rings.
Edward takes a deep breath before going over to the phone and
picking it up. This time he is silent.

6. 5.
Quiet AGONIZING crying is heard from a woman on the other end
of the phone. Amidst her cries is the wailing of a baby. The
woman speaks softly through her tears.
UNKNOWN WOMAN
Shh...shh it's okay, it's going to
be okay. Shh
Edward decides to speak.
EDWARD
Who..who are you?
The woman's and child's cries stop suddenly. The struggled
breathing takes it's place. Shortly after the woman's voice
is heard as a whisper.
UNKNOWN WOMAN
Help me
EDWARD
Wha...what are you talking about?
Who...
The light in the room cuts to DARKNESS and the phone line
goes DEAD. Desperately looking around the room panicking
Edward drops the phone and reaches for his flashlight.
Clicking it on, Edward sees the chandelier swinging more
violently than before. Pointing his light around the room,
Edward notices the door he came through is wide open. With no
other way out Edward heads to the door.
INT. CORRIDOR.
Edward finds himself in the corridor from earlier. This time
there doesn't seem to be an exit at the other end. Edward
still takes a few steps forward.
SUDDENLY the SCRAPING noise is heard again. This time in
combination with the loud EAR PIERCING wails of the woman and
child heard on the phone. Edward's flashlight begins to
flicker.
Throughout the flickering we catch glimpses of a hunched over
figure sitting directly in the middle of the corridor. The
wails get louder. Through the flickers we can a crib attached
to the figure's leg scraping on the ground as they move back
and forth.
Edward's flashlight stops flickering. The beam of light
directly shines on the figure. The figure's head jolts up.
The flashlight flickers as we see the face of a MONSTROUS
CREATURE turn to face Edward. It stands revealing itself as a
contorted humanlike entity letting out a shriek of woman and
baby's cries amalgamated into one.

EDWARD
JESUS CHRIST
Edward turns and runs. The creature follows, wailing louder
and louder. He runs back into the living room.
INT. LIVING ROOM. LOOP THREE.
With no time to lock the door behind him Edward keeps moving,
weaving his way through the pitch black room. The CREATURE
continues to follow, wailing and dragging the crib attached
to its leg SCRAPING the ground as it bashes its way through
the remains of the room's furniture.
It knocks Edward to the ground with a large THUD. Edward
scrambles on the floor trying to find the flashlight. The
creature lets out a DEAFENING wail.
Edward grabs the flashlight holding it and his arms in front
of his head screaming.
EDWARD
NO...NO DONT!
Nothing happens. The room goes eerily silent.
Edward lowers his arms and points the flashlight forward. The
creature has VANISHED.
Breathing rapidly, Edward sits up desperately scanning the
room with his flashlight. Nothing, he slowly stands, trying
to catch his breath he leans on the nearby drawer. His rapid
breathing begins to calm.
SUDDENLY the creaking swing of the chandelier is heard. Yet
it sounds heavier. Edward freezes dropping the flashlight to
the ground.
The flashlight pulses and flickers revealing a SLENDER PALE
BODY hanging in the chandelier's place. The flashlight goes
out. Edward doesn't move.
Instantly a crooked pale hand is placed on Edward's shoulder.
Trembling in fear and breathing apace Edward diverts his eyes
to the hand as struggled breathing is heard behind him.
CUT TO BLACK.
The creature's wail is heard.
END.
