Narrator introduces the story.
sound bridge: the sound of a violin
Hugh sitting at his desk with glass of whiskey and a cigar.
Close up of Hugh writing a letter inviting his three children
to his house, as he has some news for them.
SPLIT SCREEN
Screen split into thirds, three doors, letters coming through
each door in sync, Show each child reading the letters at the
same time. Three shots merge into one, close up of the letter
calling the children to the fathers house.
INT.OFFICE.DAY
Shows Harold speaking to his butler in the office
"Prepare the dinner for three extra, the kids are coming
home."
Butler looks almost in shock, "Are they really? Why?"
"I want them to stay for the week so I can earn their trust
again so I can try and build a relationship with them."
"how did you convince them to come? They hate your guts!"
"Thats the thing, The only way I could get them to come was
by telling them im dying and I want to spend some time with
them before I go."
"You know thats a bad idea Harold"
"Oh shhh Jeffery, this is the only way I can connect with my
kids again.
EXT.FRONT DOOR.DAY
Harold knocks. Door opened by butler. Kids greet and walk in
one by one. Door closes. Freeze frame.
INT.OFFICE.DAY
Cut to HUGH taking a puff of his cigar. Long shot.

Cut to kids. Other end of the table. Sitting next to each
other. Artist and musician look shocked. Politician doesn't.
He simply states "So what are you dying of then?"
Cut back to Hugh. He dismisses Harold and just explains that
he wants to get to know them better before he dies, so he can
give each of them appropriate things in his will. He never
specifies when he's dying, but he implies that it's soon.
BEGIN MONTAGE UNPACKING MOVING IN
Lots of very short paced cuts showing the three children
moving into their fathers house, unpacking, settling in. No
voiceover.
INT.BEDROOM 1.DAY
As Harold is finishing unpacking, Hugh's butler enters asking
Harold to see his father in his office.
INT.OFFICE.DAY
"Harold, thank you for making it here, I know it must be
quite tough for you, but I want to make sure that you recive
what is appropriate
EXT.GARDEN.DAY
Hugh outside in garden on bench, reading newspaper and
smoking cigar. Harold comes out and joins him, Hugh seems
very surprised to see this as Harold would never usually
spend time with his father. Shows Harold very obviously
trying to get his place in the will. Cuts again to a
different window, see Hazel looking from the window and
notices. She shakes her head.
INT.DINING TABLE.EVENING
Whole family sitting at dining table, the two brothers
behaviours are noticeably different. Very high tension
between them. Both look at last parsnip. Harold takes it. cut
between extreme close ups of the brothers faces, bickering
starts, gets quicker and more aggressive until the father
slams his fist down on the table, shouting "BE QUIET".
With the factor of the table extending the argument, Hugh
gets up and in a very quiet voice "Please excuse me from the
INT.HALLWAY.NIGHT
See Hazel in the hallway outside Hugh's office about to knock

on the door. Overhears Hugh speaking to the butler. "The
plans falling apart, I should never have lied to the kids."
INT.OFFICE.NIGHT
Hugh speaking to the butler looking very worried. "Im afraid
it isn't working. I just wanted everybody to be close again
like when they were children. I thought the plan was perfect.
Now they all hate each other."
While we hear Hugh on the phone, we see a shot of Hazel
listening in through the door, she looks shocked. As soon as
Hugh says "Now they all hate each other" Hazel bursts through
the door in tears. Two brothers run upstairs as they hear the
commotion. Hazel explains what happened to the two brothers.
Hugh tries to hurry out quickly to avoid explaining
everything to his children.
EXT.DRIVEWAY.DAY
Hugh backing out the front door with the three children
following him all shouting and extremely agitated.
Hugh tries to calm them down while still walking backwards.
When he gets to the road he shouts "Im healthy, OK. Im not
dying" Everyone goes quiet. Cuts to Hayden. "So you're not
dying?" Cuts back to Hugh. "No, i'm so sorry for what i've
done" As soon as he says this sentence, A car comes speeding
past and hits Hugh, Killing him and ending the film.
