3. When is the design cycle used?
It is used everyday in everything you do
assuming you think.
In making buildings, research, inventions,
projects... everything.
4. Why use the design cycle?
It helps us solve problems creatively and
faster.
It helps us be able to prepare better and
improve easily for the second time around.
5. What are the steps?
The design cycle is a five step method.
1. Investigate
2. Design
3. Plan
4. Create
5. Evaluate
6. 1. Investigate
Identify the problem which needs to be solved
Research on the problem and ways to solve it.
THINK BIG! Do not limit yourselves to ideas
which already have been tested.

Brainstorm. List down as many ideas as you
can.
Do not be afraid of mistakes
Choose which one is best and justify.
Don’t limit yourself. Think outside the box.
9. 3. Plan
Construct a plan for the desired
product/solution using logical steps.
Evaluate amount of time necessary

Use appropriate techniques and/or
equipment in order to create the desired
product.
Follow the plan but change if necessary.
Create the solution
11. 5. Evaluate
Evaluate, ask yourself questions like:
What could I have done better?
What were my weak points?
What were my strong points?
Judge honestly
12. Sample situation: Brochure making
1. Investigate
- During this phase, I researched about
different brochures. Looked at what they had.
- I also researched about my topic: heart
attacks.
13. 2. Design
I thought about possible applications to use:
ex. Keynote, pages, photoshop
I brainstormed on advantages and
disadvantages finally decided on pages
template.
14. 3. Plan
I planned what I wanted my brochure to look
like.
I chose photos from the internet and important
information from my research.
15. 4. Create
I created the brochure. Arranging photos,
putting input. Making minor adjustments to the
plan.
16. 5. Evaluate
I asked myself what I could have done better.
How I could have improved etc. and rated my
work.
