• Bangkok (English pronunciation: /ˈbæŋkɒk/) is
the capital and most populous city of Thailand. It
is known in Thai as Krung Thep Maha Nakhon
(กรุงเทพมหานคร, pronounced [krūŋ tʰêːp mahǎː

• Bangkok, Thailand’s capital, is a large city known
for ornate shrines and vibrant street life. The
boat-filled Chao Phraya River feeds its network of
canals, flowing past the Rattanakosin royal
district, home to opulent Grand Palace and its
sacred Wat Phra Kaew Temple.
What about
Thailand?
• Thailand (/ˈtaɪlænd/ TY-land or /ˈtaɪlənd/ TY-
lənd; Thai: ประเทศไทย), officially the Kingdom of
Thailand (Thai: ราชอาณาจักรไทย), formerly known
as Siam (Thai: สยาม), is a country at the centre of
the Indochinese peninsula in Southeast Asia. With a
total area of approximately
513,000 km2 (198,000 sq mi), Thailand is the
world's 51st-largest country. It is the 20th-most-
populous country in the world, with around 66 million
people. The capital and largest city is Bangkok.
WHITE LOTUS
A white lotus, gleaming in the
wide
Circle of the pond,
Its petals pure to my eye:
The clear water flows, splashes;
there are fish
Gliding in and out and all
around. Watching them,
By:H.R.HPrincePhanuphanYukhon(1883-1932)of Thailand
White has always been a
symbol of purity and of
innocence. Human beings
have long associated the
color with all things
positive. The white lotus
flower, already stunningly
beautiful in its intricate
symmetry, appears even
more so juxtaposed
against the surface of the
dirty water upon which it
naturally grows.
My heart goes soft inside me.
Droves of butterflies arch back
and forth,
Hanging over the lotus,
inhaling its breath,
Drinking from its center.
The small boat shuffles by
And the lotus slowly drifts out
of sight.
We can imagine how the
white lotus flower have
offered those observers
hope more than any other
single thing. Countless
individuals must have
peered at the lone object
of beauty in an otherwise
featureless and perhaps
even depressing
surrounds.
The gorgeous flower
personified resilience in the
face of adversity. It showed
how they could, as
individuals, rise above and
beyond the difficulties that
were inherent to their
everyday existence. It
became a metaphor for
taking the best things in
their own lives and using
them as the foundation for
spiritual progress. That is
how the lotus flower
became to be considered
one of the most prominent
symbols of strength today
My Mind glows,
Knows no fear of the darkness
and its tight web,
Though the stars blur and the
moon’s dim rays,
Are sucked into nothingness,
And the oneness of man still
cannot be found.
Comprehending,
the feeling of
thinking at the
same time being
confused.
We must not lose
hope, unity is
what we need to
overcome
different problems
in our life
By: Chayasi Suntophiphit
Though the sky splits
and crackles,
Drops no gentle music,
Though a rooster’s
hurried crowning jars
ears,
And frightened dog goes
whimpering up and
down.
Though were
experiencing lot of
problems bound
by different
religions and
traditions, we
must build good
camaraderie. We
need unity to
incentive harmony
and peace in this
world.
This clear light inside
me,
Pushes the wild,
heavy night back:
It will never flicker, it
can never change,
Neither pain nor
sorrow can reach it.
Light emblematic
hope that is within
us can help us to
encounter sorrow
and overcome it
with the faith of
God.
The earth swings in
circles,
Soon light must
break through
dawn
Hanging golden and
clear all over the
world,
men Living like men.
Our lives here in
Earth is like a
wheel, there are
ups and down, but
with perseverance
we can achieve
our dreams. We
must live and act
like human being
in accordance
with the divine
law.
In the lonely night I lie
listening to my own
heart,
The darkness so thick I
could lose my way,
Except for the faint,
echoing chant,
Of the most precious
words ever written.
As he reflected his
own thought we
must listen to the
words of God
when we are still
alive and never
fail to set a good
example to others.
Words like drops from
heaven,
Falling like wisdom,
strength, peace, beauty,
into waiting heart.
These two small hands will
move as this mind leads
them
Will carry Buddha’s divine
law
Here to this earth, until this
heart no longer beats
Lets pay God with
our faith on Him
until the last
breath we can.
Guidance of God
is what we need
to succeed.
It is a literary poem that shows
different phases of life. This
poem has marvellous meaning
that makes you more faithful
to your religion. It also give
you ideas that God is here to
guide us in everything we do.

folktale is a story or legend
forming part of an oral
tradition. Folktales are
generally passed down from
one generation to another and
often take on the
characteristics of the time
and place in which they are
told.
SUPaNEE KHANCHANTHITI
Translated by: SUPaNEE KHANCHANTHITI
A young boy named Makato was an
orphan, and didn't have any way to
support himself, so he worked hard
doing whatever jobs that he could to
survive. He was a very hard worker,
and people noticed that. He would
dream of going on an adventure to a
bigger place where the land was
fertile and the people were kind, and
he was encouraged to do that.
One day, when he had prepared
enough, he set out. It took him a
month to get to the bigger town, and
when he arrived he asked a woman
for water. He told her that he had
come such a long way because he
wanted to see the king, who he had
heard was kind. She worked with the
king's elephants and he started
working for her.
After some time working, he did
encounter the king, and during
the encounter he picked up a
cowrie shell that was lying on the
road and offered it to the king
(Cowrie shells were used for
money, but just one was
practically worthless).
When Makato offered the shell to the
King, the King said he could keep it, and
so Makato pondered what he could do to
honor the king's gift. He saw some
lettuce seeds at a stall in the market and
thought that he could grow them. He
asked the woman about them, and she
let him have as many as would stick to
his finger in return for his treasured
cowrie shell.
He grew the lettuces, and next
time he saw the king, he gave
one to him, telling him he grew
them from the shell the king had
given him. The king was
impressed, gave him a job in the
castle, and he eventually grew up
and married the daughter of the
king.
CHARACTERS
The characters from the story are:
• Makato
• Makato’s employer
• Old woman
• The king
• Pra Ruang, woman at the market
• The daughter of the king.
SYMBOLISM
Cowrie- means a
small shell with fine gloss
used as money.
CONFLICT
• Since Makato was a poor orphan, he cannot
change the fact that he's longing for a family
no matter how happy he is.
• He left his village that's why he need to
familiarize the place where he is now and get
along with his new neighbors.
CLIMAX
• The cowrie shell fell from the King. Makato
picked up the cowrie shell and gave it back to
the King but the King said to him that he may
keep it. He used the cowrie shell to buy
lettuce seeds. When he harvested the lettuce
he gave some of them to the King and the
King was pleased to him.
FALLING ACTION
• As the years passed Makato grew tall and
handsome. He mastered every grace & served
the king well. He was so loyal that the king
trusted him absolutely. Hewas promoted to
higher and higher positions until he was given
the title of KhunWang, which meant that he
was the most important person in the king’s
court.
CONCLUSION
• He was happily married to a beautiful young
daughter of the king. After that, the king
made him the ruler of Mon. So, Makato, who
had once been a poor orphan, became the
king of a prosperous kingdom.
Thank you
