2. WHAT IS ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE ?
 It is an area of computer science that emphasizes the creation of intelligent machines that
work and react like humans.
 The aim of AI is to improve computer functions which are related to human knowledge,
for example, reasoning, learning, and problem-solving.
 The objectives of AI research are reasoning, knowledge representation, planning,
learning, natural language processing, realization, and ability to move and manipulate
objects.
 Term first coined in 1956: Dartmouth Summer Research Project on Artificial Intelligence

3. AIM OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
 There are Three interrelated aims related to AI:
• Engineering aim
• Psychological aim
• General/Philosophical aim

4. TYPES OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
1. Reactive Machines - This is one of the basic forms of AI. It doesn’t have past
memory and cannot use past information to information for the future actions. A
popular example of a reactive AI machine is IBM’s Deep Blue, a machine that
beat chess Grandmaster Garry Kasparov in 1997.
2. Limited memory - Limited memory machines are machines that have the
capabilities of purely reactive machines, are also capable of learning from
historical data to make decisions. Example are chatbots and virtual assistants to
self-driving vehicles are all driven by limited memory AI.

5. 3. Theory of Mind - This type of AI should be able to understand people’s
emotion, belief, thoughts, expectations and be able to interact socially Even
though a lot of improvements are there in this field this kind of AI is not
complete yet.
4. Self-awareness - An AI that has it’s own conscious, super intelligent and self-
awareness.

6. ADVANTAGES OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
1. AI enables the execution of hitherto complex tasks without significant cost
outlays.
2. AI operates 24x7 without interruption or breaks and has no downtime
3. AI augments the capabilities of differently abled individuals
4. AI has mass market potential; it can be deployed across industries.
5. AI facilitates decision-making by making the process faster and smarter.

7. DISADVANTAGES OF ARTIFICIAL

1. High cost of implementation
2. Can’t replace humans
3. Lacks creativity
4. Risk of unemployment

8. APPLICATIONS OF ARTIFICIAL
INTELLIGENCE
 Gaming − AI plays important role for machine to think of large number of possible
positions based on deep knowledge in strategic games.
 Natural Language Processing − Interact with the computer that understands natural
language spoken by humans.
 Expert Systems − Machine or software provide explanation and advice to the users.
 Intelligent Robots − Robots are able to perform the instructions given by a human.

9. AI AS AN EMERGING TREND
 Artificial intelligence harnesses algorithms and machine learning to predict useful patterns
humans normally identify.
 The Indian Army is applying artificial intelligence measures from Uptake Technologies to
vehicles mainly used in peacekeeping missions for repair purposes.
 AI face recognition is beginning to help with missing people reports, and it even helps
identify individuals for criminal investigations when cameras have captured their images.
 Medical AI is another trend that reflects surprising success. Given patient information and
risk factors, AI systems can anticipate the outcome of treatment and even estimate the length
of a hospital visit.
 Home AI systems are also increasingly popular to expedite daily tasks like listening to tunes,
asking for restaurant hours, getting directions, and even sending messages.

10. FUTURISTIC SCOPE OF ARTIFICIAL
INTELLIGENCE
 The industry is turning to Artificial Intelligence technologies to help yield healthier crops,
control pests, monitor soil, and growing conditions, organize data for farmers, help with the
workload, and improve a wide range of agriculture-related tasks in the entire food supply
chain.
 Use of weather forecasting - With the change in climatic condition and increasing
pollution it’s difficult for farmers to determine the right time for sowing seed, with help of
Artificial Intelligence farmers can analyze weather conditions by using weather forecasting
which helps they plan the type of crop can be grown and when should seeds be sown.

developing robots that are trained to control weeds

analyzed to influence decision making on the farm.

CAGR of 25.4% from 2019 to 2025.
 The insights of AI in agriculture market size was less i.e. 61.8 in year 2014 and is estimated to increase by the year 2025.
 The application of precision farming got increased from year 2014 to estimated by year 2025.
 Also the use of Agriculture Robots have been also increased.
 The global population is expected to reach 9.8 billion by 2050, according to the UN.
 So from this graphical representation we can terminate that artificial intelligence is increasingly being adopted in the agriculture
industry for the improvement of harvest quality and accuracy since it helps analyze farm data.
