4. Early Life
Jay Shetty was born on 6 September 1987 in London,
United Kingdom.
He is British but his ethnicity is Indian.
His father is from Bangalore in the south of India,
and moved to the UK when he married his mother.
His mother is from North India but grew up in Yemen,
moving to London at 16 in order to keep her UK
passport after the end of British rule of the country.

He completed his schooling from London, United Kingdom and later
joined the Cass Business School, London to pursue a bachelor degree in
BSc (Hons) in Behavioral Science.
Before joining the business school, he learned about human life and it's
unexplored facts from a monk at the age of 18. He decided to become a
monk and he came back to India and took the education of a monk.
He spent four summers in India interning at corporations and training
with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, three years
living a Vedic monk lifestyle at an ashram in Mumbai, India.

Jay began his career at Accenture, working on digital strategy
and as a social media coach for the company's executives.
He is a #1 New York Times bestselling author, award-winning
storyteller, podcast host, and former monk, on a mission to
make wisdom go viral.
He’s been a keynote speaker around the world, from Google to
Microsoft to Netflix to HSBC, and has developed corporate
training programs for many clients.
His Online School has been attended by over 2 million students
provides weekly programming on the principles and practices
for health and wellness to thousands of members in over 100
countries.

The Kailash Satyarthi Children’s Foundation envisions a world where all
children are free to be children. Jay partnered with Kailash Satyarthi, YouTube
and Soul Pancake alongside other creators including Kati Morton to collectively
raise USD $148,399.
With India battling the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic amid lack of
oxygen, hospital beds, vaccines and other medical supplies – people of the Indian
diaspora living abroad are reaching out with aid and support.
Similarly Jay Shetty, author and purpose coach, and his wife Radhi Devlukia-
Shetty, felt compelled to do something. In 48 hours they called up their friends
and organised a virtual fundraiser ‘Help India Breathe’ on Saturday (May 1).

Awards and in May 2019 he won Best in Health &
Wellness at the 11th Shorty Awards.

“If I wanted to learn how to race a speed car, I’m not
going to go and race with Formula 1 drivers. I’m going
to go to a beginner’s class,” Shetty says.
“There’s always been a way in which consumerism and
capitalism will constantly try to bombard you,” Shetty
says. “We can sit here and complain about it or be
upset about it. But guess what? Social media is not
going away. So what are we going to do about it?”
“If you fit in and go with the flow, people will call you
a pushover and a follower,” he says. “But if we stand
out and we do our own thing, people will call us a
rebel and an attention-seeker. The point is, anything
we do will always be judged.”
