3. ABOUT THE COMPANY
• Nalco was established on 7th January 1981.
• It was incorporated as a public sector enterprise of
the Ministry of Mines, Government of India in 1981.
• The aluminium manufactured in NALCO was registered in
London Metal Exchange(LME) in 1989.
• The main units of NALCO are at Damanjodi (Mines &
Refinery complex) and Nalconagar, Angul (Smelter &
Power Plant Complex).
• Deals in mining, metal, thermal power station.
• Dr. T.K.Chand, is the Chairman and managing director of
NALCO.

• There are four products of NALCO.
• Aluminium metal (Ingots, Alloy Ingots, Sows Billets, Wire
Rods, Cast strips)
• Aluminia & Hydrate (Calcined Alumina, Alumina Hydrate)
• Rolled Product (Aluminium Rolled Products, Aluminium
Chequered Sheets)
• Power (Thermal Power, Co-generation Power, Wind Power,
Solar Power)

Gained some practical knowledge of marketing from a
manufacturing sector perspective and understanding the
overall marketing strategies & processes.
To find out the future demand of aluminium.
To find out new opportunities of aluminium consumption
To analyse competitors market position.
