3. The SIAS Policy document aims to provide policy
framework for the standardization of the procedures to
Screen, Identify, Assess, and Support learners.
• S – Screening of learners. This is the process of
gathering any relevant information about the learner.
• I – Identification of the various learning barriers. This
is where barriers are identified.
• A – Assessment. This is the stage where the learner is
assessed to determine the level of support required.
• S – Support. This is the stage where support is given
to a learner. There are different forms of support given
to a learner depending on their level of support that is
required.
The SIAS policy includes a number of resources that
can help teachers provide resources, and request for
assistance from the School Based Support Team. As
well as the Distristic based support team.
