Autonomous learners are those who
explicitly accept responsibility for their own
learning.



The autonomous learner are reflective
about their own learning.



Autonomous learners are intrinsically
motivated to learn and evidence life-long
learning.
TERM
The term stems from self-regulated or self-directed
learning. Benson and Voller (1997) defined leaner
autonomy as the ability to take personal or “self
regulated” responsibility for learning and it is
widely theorized to predict academic performance
It is unlikely a student with poor
academic confidence would easily
become an autonomous learner.
AN AUTONOMOUS LEARNER DO
• Take responsibility for his/her own learning

• Set goals
• Choose language learning strategies• monitor
progress

• Evaluate (to a greater or lesser degree) his/her
successful acquisition
• There are many ways to learn a language

• Knowing your own language helps in learning
another language
• Learning methods used in other subjects can be
useful in language learning
• You have the ability to learn how to check your own
progress and evaluate your learning
THE REASON IS JUST THAT I KNOW HOW TO GET
INFORMATION, HOW TO REPEAT THINGS AND
TO MEMORIZED THEM.
I HAVE ABILITIES TO START LEARNING
ANYTHING. THE ONLY ANSWER IS IN OUR
HANDS, IN OUR MIND, WE ARE THE MAGIC KEY
TO LEARN EVERY PIECE OF EVERYTHING.
