2. Introduction:
The original aim of the Project was to keep on learning as a teacher in
training who has to develop her abilities by putting into action what has
been studied and learnt, throughout the whole program. This series of
lessons,their preparationand the resultingreflections shouldrepresentthe
evidence that one is prepared to become a professional teacher who will
continue learning throughout her working experience. The observed class
was usefulto plan the lessons, and theteacher also informed me about the
grammar points to be presented.
I think the objectives, activities and theuseof resourceswerecoherentwith
the use of the Communicative Approach, as it was commented in each
Journal entry. From my point of view, the most significant choice was the
topic which served to the purpose of creating a Context for the activities:
Olympic Games.Communication skillswere fosteredby guiding studentsto
become aware of how to use the language they know to express
meaningful ideas about an interesting topic.
I believe the experience was significant for the learners because they
behaved, participated, drew nice pictures about the topic, completed
Feedback forms, and told me they had never worked so much in class. The
development of this teaching experience relied a greatdeal on the students
and the teacher, their willingness and collaboration (she recorded the
videos of the lessons).
I learnt that using L2 in class is always possible; however, it requires special
concentration and extra-planning, depending on how students may react.
3. Development:
Materials were carefully chosen, in order to capture the students’
attention, make them recall language they know and acquire new. I didn’t
pay attention to some actions that were planned like changing the sitting
arrangement because I was extremely nervous. Anyway, I think the aims
were achieved, as we have shared through the Journal entries and the
videos. They only did the homework after the first lesson, but they
completed what they were asked in class, and drew nice pictures; besides,
I was able to take notes to keep record of their perfomancewhile working
in pairs.
If I had the choice to develop this Projectagain, I should improvethe use of
Transitions,I repeated many times the samephrases, andI could be clearer.
I would take into account the tutors’ comments and suggestions.
This learning process will influence my future goals, I became more
confident, and skillful in order to plan Lessons. I will surely develop
strategies to foster communication.
This experience was meaningfulto me becauseI had the opportunity to put
into action mostof whatI had learnt throughthe program. The teacher and
the students also benefitted through the process, sheobserved thelessons
and provided Feedback, that is, she gained experience as a professional. I
am satisfied with the way I develop the Practicum, despite of my
nervousness and anxiety.
Conclusion:
I think the objectiveshavebeen achieved successfully, andthatis important
to build up courage to face the colloquy.
This experience has been beneficial for the teacher in charge of the group
and for the authorities as well; because I gave them copies of the
Institutional Report, and that has a social implication.
