A Lesson Plan in English
Intended for Grade 7 Learners
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards
The learner demonstrates understanding about the different types of
imagery.
B. Performance Standards
The learners will use sensory imagery in a poem.
C. Learning Competencies
Express appreciation for sensory images used

Videos from YouTube
IV. PROCEDURES
A. BEFORE THE LESSON
 Start with prayer and greetings.
 Proceed to mind exercise (riddles)
- What has to be broken before you can use it?
- What is full of holes but still holds water?
- What question can you never answer yes to?
 Quote of the day: “Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if
you were to live forever.” ― Mahatma Gandhi
 Present pictures and ask students to describe it.

B. DURING THE LESSON
 Present a video about sensory imagery.
After watching the video ask the students the following:
1. What is sensory imagery?
2. What are the five types of imagery?
 Present another video which is about sensory poems.
After, ask the student what is the importance of using sensory
images in a poem or in any form of writing?
 For further understanding, the teacher will present a soft copy of 10
sentences and the students will identify orally what sensory imagery
being used.
1. The spaghetti looks delicious.
2. I feel the heat of the sun into my body.
3. The scent of perfume is very refreshing.
4. The chainsaw cried so loud.
5. Days of heat, night so warm.
6. The announcement of the principal is loud and clear.
7. I felt the thorn in my foot.
8. She looks so beautiful in white.
9. I saw the man standing on the hill.
10. The candy is melting in my tongue.
C. AFTER THE LESSON
 The teacher will give a task to the students
Instruction: Make your own desired poem that shows the different
sensory imagery for 15 minutes.
V. ASSIGNMENT
 Direction: Search for Filipino poem and underline each statement that uses
sensory images and identify what sensory images being used in a PowerPoint
presentation. You will present that one next meeting before we proceed to the
next topic.
