 Improves staff participation
 Promotes a positive environment
 Increases goal-oriented behavior
 Boosts staff morale…….
 INCREASES
PRODUCTION!
1. Require results: Identify goals and objectives
2. Review results: Provide specific feedback and
resolve issues
3. Reward results: Find staff motivators and
reward appropriately!
Out-groups are employees who:
 Oppose the in-group
 Cannot relate to the in-group
 Feel excluded
 Cannot clearly communicate
 Decreases staff participation
 Promotes a negative environment
 Reduces goal-oriented behavior
 Decreases staff morale…….
 LESS PRODUCTIVE!
Working With Out-Groups
1. Listen (out-groups want to be heard!)
2. Show empathy (walk in their shoes)
3. Recognize contributions (be specific and sincere)
4. Help them feel included (ask, invite, be sensitive)
5. Build relationships (earn respect and trust)
6. Give them a voice and empower them! (decision
making and planning)
Build cohesiveness
Promote excellence
Work to include out-groups
