Homeroom Guidance is a comprehensive, developmental and proactive program designed to equip K to 12 learners with life skills on three domains: Academic Development, Personal and Social Development, and Career Development. Academic Development Domain pertains to all academic related needs or concerns of learners
3. Learning Objectives
At the end of this module, you are expected to:
1. discuss how sound decision-making can contribute
to success or achievement;
2. demonstrate ways on how to make sound decisions
in the given situations; and
3. value sound decision-making based on the different
factors.
4. Introduction
In this module you will learn the factors in effective
decision-making, the core values and self-efficacy being
integrated as a whole. Decision-making plays a vital role
in the life of learners like you. It diverts you from falling
into the trap that you may regret later. It can both save
you and your career interest. The ability to distinguish
between choice and needs creates a great impact in your
life
5. Keep in Mind
Decisiveness is displayed by firmness and decision. It
means that you have the ability to decide, and from the
strength of a decision you then have the needed skills to
carry out that decision and act on it.
6. Here are some of the practices of a decisive person:
Collect relevant information. Get as much information as possible.
It is about exploring and discovering all the available
options. Read, talk to seniors and trusted persons, and visit
credible websites to get valid and reliable information. The
first step will give you a good head start and will guide you
through arriving at a less risky but rather sound decision
7. Write down pros and cons. Make columns and list
down the doable including its positive and
negative effects.
8. Imagine yourself sooner or later dealing on with the outcome of your
decisions. Think about what you’re doing and how
you’re feeling. Does it make you happy and fulfilled?
Or does it make you regretful and feeling a little
empty? Of course, you must go with the positive
outcome.
9. Weigh in past decisions. Maybe you have read or heard about the
saying that “those who don’t understand history are
doomed to repeat it.” This is the exact reason why you
should reflect and find out the things that you should have
considered and should not have considered. Through
pondering on past decisions, you will be able to draw out
effects that turned out well and those that did not turn out
very well.
10. Be Ready and Brace Yourself. It’s good to be always prepped up
with the choices you’ll be faced with in your life; and get
ready to bout with upcoming challenges. Foresight is one
skill that’s useful and experiences you had in the past will
also gear you up
11. Remember: Making good choices begins with
taking charge of the decision-making process.
There’s never a short-cut to achieving finer things in
life.
12. You Can Do It
Help Me Decide
In making a career choice, it is important to
come up with a sound desicion. How do you do
it? Who are the significant others who can help
you? Try to identify the particular person/s or
institution/s as being asked below. Do this on a
sheet of paper.
13.
14. What I have learned
In choosing for your career, apply the practices of a decisive person.
Copy and fill in the table below on you sheet of paper.
15. Share your Thoughts & Feelings
Recall an instance in your life when you
needed a confidant. Who was that person?
Write him/her a nice and creatively done
Thank You letter and let the person know
how you turned out to be a better person
now. Let him/her sign or acknowledge the
letter and compile it together with your
other activities.
