2. My idea
My idea spurs from my interest in hip-hop and rap from the musical side of the
business and the lifestyle of the musical creators. I feel like I have enough knowledge
on this subject to create a piece about it. The form that the piece will be produced in
will be an opening sequence. So the opening sequence will be based around an
upcoming rapper who’s obsessed with the culture around the hip-hop lifestyle and the
intent of making it in the world of hip hop. The opening sequence will give a
background to the character and show where he aims to be in life, career wise. He
will be an aspiring rapper so he is going to be struggling to improve and this will be
shown in the sequence.

3. How I will develop my idea
I will be researching into a wide range of podcasts
regarding film critics talking about the newest films and
how they talk about them. For my moving video piece I
will need to watch and analyse programmes that discuss
Hip-Hop and how it was created as well as how it effects
certain people (Rappers and Listeners to the music). This
means conducting Primary research into the effect of Hip-
Hop to others , possibly through a survey or
questionnaire. I will also be using secondary research as
it is faster to obtain and will allow me to spend more time
on production.

4. Opening sequence
The Print and Audio pieces will tie into this moving video piece as a type of
advertisement. The posters and podcast act as a scheme to promote this ‘Film’. I
have decided to go with a moving video piece as the main part of the project as I feel
most comfortable working with cameras and editing. The sequence will act as a start
to a film that I have created a concept of. It isn’t based off of any pre existing films or
programmes. There will be a main protagonist who will be trying to balance his
personal life with his dream of becoming a rapper.

5. Presenting My Project (audio
and print)
For my audio piece in this project I will create a
short podcast that talks about the ‘film’ in the
perspective of a critic with a couple voice-actors. I
am producing the audio piece as I feel that I have
gained this knowledge on audio pieces and could
create a script for a podcast, which will be set out
like a long running podcast. For the print based
visuals I will be creating a poster with the purpose of
promoting this ‘film’ which will include stills from the
film or pictures taking purposefully for the poster.

6. Print Based
For my Print Based Visuals I will need to look into the layout of Film posters,
specifically films regarding rapping or the concept of music. This will allow
me to create posters that appeal to the films story and to the audience. I will
begin to learn more about Photoshop and more tools I could use to help my
creation in print based media. Also I will research into the use of different
fonts, colours etc. to see what message they convey and how audiences
react to them.

7. Production
For the print based part of my project I am going to create two posters with
the purpose of advertising the ‘film’. With the Podcast it will run
approximately 10 minutes including the introduction and the outro. The
opening sequence will run for 3-5 minutes. I have chose this quantity for
each aspect of the project as I feel as it will be able to be completed in time
and I am not setting myself a project goal that will be near impossible to
accomplish.
