2. The Brief
The client for this project is Sunderland Culture as they are holding a
media exhibition called Bright Light: Northern Talent, Which has been a
consistent convention in the Northeast for 26 Years. Their requirements
for the project are to make an approximately 15-minute-long video. This
could be a Documentary or a Short Film. The subject of the video
should be tied to the Northeast or Sunderland specifically, this could be
either the filming locations, the cast or the overall themes being relevant
to people’s experiences living in the Northeast like poverty or
unemployment. These requirements are quite loose so gathering ideas
for this project should be quite fun and help me to understand my local
community more.
3. The Audience
The intended audience for this brief are people are
aged between 16-25. This is perfect for me as I fall
within this age bracket giving me a better ability to
relate and cater towards them. Catering towards
Gen Z can sometimes be challenging but by later
researching their interests it can be made a lot
easier and create an overall better end product

4. Deadlines
I have the whole academic year to complete
this project as the deadline is 24th of April 2024
and the Resubmission Deadline is 11th June of
April 2024. This leaves me a lot time to create
the best possible product That I can. As well as
time for any inevitable problem solving that will
come up during the production of the project.

5. Initial Thoughts
At first instinct I feel confident in creating a documentary/short film as I have
made one before in a previous brief and been very successful in doing so. With
the requirements being that it just must be at least have sets that are in the
northeast opens the possibilities up for this short film to potentially be about
anything I want which is both exciting and daunting. Nevertheless, I have a few
ideas already for both documentary and short film that could be good which
allows me to have flexibility going into the research process and time to get a
final decision
