A Performance Task for AP Chinese
- 1. Performance Task for AP Chinese:
You are invited to join Toastmasters in the Bay Area. Since you are enthusiastic about
speaking Mandarin, the Chinese toastmasters encourage you to deliver your speech in
Mandarin. In your speech, you will talk about the movie, Raise the Red Lantern, and its
significance. Organize your speech in a logical sequence: opening, main points,
summary. Refer to the writing template, and use the vocabulary in the textbook when
needed. Type the speech into a Google Doc. Task completion, organization, language
use, elaboration, and accuracy will be assessed. Finish the task in 20 minutes.
When you are done writing your speech, you will be given 10 minutes for peer
evaluation and editing based on the rubric.
To ensure an effective presentation, practice and rehearse your speech. You may
include visual aids to help the audience understand what is being said, and reinforce the
points of your speech in unique and interesting ways. Pronunciation and tones, posture
and gestures, eye contact, volume and pacing will be assessed. The speech should be
completed in two minutes.
