East West Records Indie Record Store in Orlando, FL, is not the best choice for my Atlanta-based Hip Hop and
R&B artist release. Though the store specializes in selling Indie music, and its location makes it convenient for
local shoppers, it simply needs the reach, scope, and resources my artist needs for success.
Unlike an online or larger national chain, East West Records does not have access to the marketing power,
promotion channels, or promotional outlets needed to boost my artist’s career. Even if it did, its focus on
Indie music means its target market is more limited, so there are fewer potential buyers to capitalize on.
Finally, there are more cost-effective alternatives out there that provide access to broader networks.
Investing in digital platforms like iTunes or Bandcamp, or a more prominent independent label can give a
better return on investment by opening my artist’s reach to more people, thus making it easier to build a fan
base and market their work more efficiently.
In conclusion, East West Records may have the ideal location and specialty for an Indie artist release. Still, for
my Atlanta-based Hip Hop and R&B artist release, its limited reach, lack of resources, and comparatively
higher cost make it a poor choice.
