Our Working Title
• We then had to agree on a title that would be
suitable for our thriller opening, we decided that
the name or our opening would be…

‘BEHIND CLOSED DOORS’

• We think that this title is very effective and would
be successful in attracting the audience as it
sounds really, however as our opening progresses
we may decide to change the titleeresting
BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
The Treatment
• The brief outline of our film is that its based on serial killer with psychological
problems. In the film he kills a number of people young teenage boys and girls and
this is shown in the opening through the pictures and information he keeps of
    each of his victims.

• We decided that we would make a stylised/discreet opening and try to portray his
personality through opening by taking different clips and shots of what his doing
and how he acts and editing them all the together with different paces. The
different types of shots we will be taking are examples such as the serial killer
creating a new page in his book of all the people his killed which will suggest that
    his just killed another person.
• We have also decided to included flashbacks of people his previously killed,
throughout the opening were going to link props and pictures of his victims with
    the flashbacks.

• By the end of the opening the audience will see that the room he's in is filled with
hundreds of his victims as the walls of the room would be covered with pictures of
    all people his killed.
Our Inspiration
• The subgenre that we have picked for our thriller is psychological
thriller. As a group we decided a psychological thriller was most
effective and the audience would enjoy this type of thriller the
  most.
• We looked at various number of different psychological thrillers as
group, however we enjoyed the opening of Seven the most. The
opening of seven grabbed out attention the most it was the most
effective in telling the story but just through shots and editing. We
then decided to use Seven as our Inspiration and guideline of our
own opening. The Seven opening is also a stylised opening it was
  created through editing
• We used intertextuality in our opening through Seven as we liked
the idea of the book and the way the pages were being flicked, so
we decided we would also use the idea of book for our opening.
Location
• We decided to use the photography studio as our main
location, as our opening mainly consists of “the unknown”
killer flicking through and adding to his scrap book, this space
provides that environment that making it effective and
successful. Within our opening the killer reminisces on
previous murders using this ideas we will briefly re-live the
event that occurred creating a flash back. This will be filmed
  locally.
Props
For our opening, mise en scene is an important factor that we need to
consider in order for our film opening to be successful, we must assure
our mise en scene is faultless.
These are the following props we will use;

• Table
• Scrap book ( that we will create)
• Wine bottle
• Stationaries
• Smart shoes; paper, pens, scissors …
• Mask
• Pictures
• Candle
• Box

These props will create a surreal effect making it naturalistic.

Production Schedule
• Monday 4th February - Going to main location and take the pictures for our
  Storyboard
• Tuesday 5th February - Pitching our Ideas to the teachers and classmates
• Friday 8th February – Filming are main shots for our thriller opening set in
  the Photography room
• Tuesday 12th February – Going out and film some of the flashbacks
• Friday 15th February – Finalising our filming and looking back over footage
to see if there is anything we need to re-film.
• Tuesday 26th February – In the editing sweet editing out Thriller Openings
• Friday 1st March – Continuing with the editing of our Thriller openings
• Tuesday 5th March – We should have created a rough copy of our thriller
  openings
• Friday 8th March – DEADLINE!!!
Risk Assessment
• The Idea we have chosen to go with is simple but yet effective and therefore it would
have quite a low risk assessment. However because we are filming in quite a small
room, we will have quite a lot of valuable equipment in there so as a group we will have
to monitor the equipment so nothing gets damaged.
• Also we will be filming some of our shots in public areas, so depending on where we go
the risk assessment could become more risky. So we believe we will have to think
carefully about what places we choose to go and film certain shots.
• Overall or risk assessment should be low because we will be picking sensible filming
areas for outside filming and the inside filming should be straight forward.
Institutional Detail

• Seeing as our Thriller Sub-Genre is Psychological, I feel that Production companies
such as Hammer Films: a film production company based in the United Kingdom,
Founded in 1934 will be an appropriate company to produce our thriller.
• Another film company that would produce our Thriller is Syncopy Films,
responsible for producing Thrillers like The Prestige(2006), Inception(2010) and
    Following (1998).
• Other Production companies that could produce our Thriller:
• Touchstone Pictures
• Legendary Pictures
• New Market Films
Equipment and Blogging Skills
• From previous filming for example our Swedes, Film Remakes and our Prelim we
    have acquired various skills
• Camera Skills: We have learnt the basics of using our filming cameras and have
also learnt about how vital it is to manual focus our shots every time we film.
Secondly, we have learnt how to use our cameras along with the tripods, still
cameras and in the near future lighting.
• Editing: Over the past few months our editing skills have improved rapidly and as
a group we have learnt how to use Final Cut Pro when editing our footage. There
are also various effects we can add to our footage when editing with Final Cut Pro.
These effects are generally used to add that finishing touch.
• Blogging: At the beginning of the course our blogging skills were not brilliant but
over the last few months we have learnt that when blogging we need to blog every
single detail because this is the way we can pick up marks. Also we now know that
we need to used various types of media when presenting our work on the blog for
example we can use: PowerPoint's, Videos, Pictures, Collages, Voice Notes,
    Embedded links etc...
Audience Detail

• Studies show that most Psychological films are rated 18+ targeting young females
due to explicit violent scenes or psychological issues i.e. Law Abiding citizen,
Donnie Darko and Seven. However, our thriller is based mainly around teenagers.
So for this reason we have decided to make our target audience young teenagers,
bringing the age certificate down to 15+.
