3 STEPS TO REGISTER FOR ORACLE CLOUD
This guide assume that you don’t have Oracle Cloud Account and registering for
Cloud Access first time.
Note: If you already have Oracle Cloud Account then you can skip this section and
go to generate SSH Keys
1. Go to the Oracle Cloud Home Pagehttps://cloud.oracle.com/home
2. On top right click Oracle Cloud Free Tier
3. You will be redirected to page like below:

Note: You get 300 USD FREE Credit for US(If you are in other countires, you get
equivalent of 300 USD)that must be used in 30 Days (As of November 2018)
Note: Even though there is FREE 300 USD Credit that is valid for 30 Days but you’ll
still need Credit/Debit Card and you will be charged around 1USD. You’ll not be
charged more than approx. 1USD, unless you upgrade yout account to Paid or Pay
as You Go (PAYG) model.

a. Provide Details and click on Complete
Fill out all the mandatory imformations
 Email Address : Enter your Email Address
 Country/Territory :India (Put country name according to your Loaction)
Note: If you are belong to North America as India you will get 400 SDG or for UK 259
GBP for 30 days only , it will change according to your Country location as for
US its $300 USD

Note: if you want to register again with Cloud account you can use same mobile
number which you used earlier, but your Email Id should be unique)
Note: For every new cloud account you create use different mail id, phone number
and debit/credit card you are using
Note: Free Oracle Cloud Promotion is only available in North America and EMEA
data regions.
3.1 Data Region as EMEA
Note: If you are in APAC (Asia Pacicifc) then we had trainees reporting issues in past
with access to Cloud Dashborad so make sure you select US or EMEA as
Data Region
Guidelines for Selecting a Default Data Region:

Fill out all the mandatory informations like Cloud account name, Default data
region, and Fill your address and all other details.
 Account Type : Personal Use (If this is for your company then select
Company Use)
 Cloud Account Name :<Enter Account Name of Your Choice>
 Default Data Region :North America, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and
Africa)
 First Name:<Enter your First Name>
 Last Name:<Enter your Last Name>
 City:<Enter your City>
 State:<Enter your State>
 Postal Code:<Enter your Post Code>
 Mobile Number:<Enter your Mobile Number>

3.2 Data Region as North
America
Fill out all the mandatory imformations like Cloud account name, Default data
region, and Fill your address and all other details.
 Account Type : Personal Use (If this is for your company then select
Company Use)
 Cloud Account Name :<Enter Account Name of Your Choice>
 Default Data Region :North America, EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and
Africa)
 First Name:<Enter your First Name>
 Last Name:<Enter your Last Name>
 City:<Enter your City>
 State:<Enter your State>
 Postal Code:<Enter your Post Code>

 Mobile Number:<Enter your Mobile Number>
Note:We would prefer to choose US East (Ashburn), US West(Phoenix) In North America
and Germany (Frankfurt), UK south (London) in Europe region.

4. Then in Verification Code Tab Provide your Mobile Number and click on Request
Code (make sure country code is correct, I am doing this from INDIA so code +91)
Note : if you want to register again with Cloud account you can use same mobile
number which you used earlier, but your Email Id should be unique)

5. Then in Verify Your Mobile Number.

Note: If you did not receive the Varification code or any Error occurred, you can request
Code again from Request Code button
6. You will get message on your mobile phone (You have 30 Minutes on above page to
update or request code again)

7. Enter Verification code that you received on phone as message, and click on Verify
8. On Add Credit Card detail page, Click on Add Credit Crad Detail.

Note: Even though there is FREE 300 USD Credit that is valid for 30 Days but you’ll
still need Credit/Debit Card and you will be charged around 1USD. You’ll not be
charged more than approx. 1USD, unless you upgrade yout account to Paid or Pay as
You Go (PAYG) model.

11.When you click on Add Payment Method, One popup box will open.
Fill out your Billing imformation and credit card details, click on Finish button.

Note: Even though you get 300 USD or other amount (based on your country)
asFREE Credit , you still have to provide Credit Card Details.

9. Provide Credit Card Details and click Finish

10.On Add credit Card Detail Page, verify details for Credit Card.(if you need to edit you
payment details you can click in edit payment method)

11.On Add credit Card Detail Page, verify details for Credit Card.(if credit card details are
correct then click on Complete Sign-Up)

12.Your Oracle Cloud Acount has been created. It will take 15 minute to get login details in
mail (at busy times it may take longer than that). Keep

3.3 Check Mail
1. You will recive the Welcome mail (check your SPAM or Updates Folder if using gmail), in
this mail you will have your Oracle username ,TemporaryPassword and Cloud Account
details
2. You get confirmation mail “Get Started Now with oracle Cloud”.

3. After that with in 10 mins you get the Access Detail for my services, use this information
for sign in. When you check your details click on “Sign In to Oracle Cloud”.

Sign In to Oracle Cloud
You can go from http://cloud.oracle.com ->Sign In
Note: In our case Cloud Account is Varshak21 and we are using Cloud Account
with Identity Cloud Service/IDCS
4. Provide the username&password to login to Oracle Cloud Account
(Details will come on your Email from which you have sign up for Cloud
account)

5. Click on Sign in
Note: There are two type of Cloud Accounts Traitional Account or Account with
Identity Cloud Service (IDCS). In your training you’ll learn all this and more.
6. After Clicking on Sign in option, for first time provide your Old password
(temporary password received in mail) , and new Password.
(Note: Make sure your password reach to password criteria)
7. Click on submit, when you successfully able change the password

8. This completes registration for Cloud Account and your will see this screen and how
getting started with Oracle Cloud.
Other method to login with your user ID, If you are creating a new user & then you have to
login to additional user.
1. Click on the sign out button which is in the right top corner of the page.
2. Then again this signing page will be open and now you can enter the details of the
user and sign in.

Note: This completes registration for Cloud Account and you will see below screen
after you logged in.

On the right side ,there is a section for some additional information.

4 ACCESSING OCI CONSOLE
4.1 Access OCI Console
When you login to Oracle Cloud, by default you land on OCI Cosnole Page.
1. Access http://cloud.oracle.com , provide Account Name, Login ID and Password
2. You will land on OCI Console Page
4.2 How to Access to “More
Oracle Cloud Services”
1. Click on the hamburger menu ,select Platform Services

2. Click on “Platform Services” and see there is various platform services.

3. Click on “Classic Data Management Services” where you can see diferent
services for data management.
Note: Make sure for accessing more oracle cloud services you must select your
home region otherwise it will not showing to you in the Hamburger Menu.
This Section Completes accessing the OCI Console

5 HOW TO ACCESS OIC CONSOLE
1. Click on the Hamburger then in the drop down lists select Platform Services.
2. In the platform services click on “Integration” option.

3. Now the OIC console page will open and here you can make new instances.
Note: For accessing OIC console you have to switch your region to Home Region
like in the below screenshot we selected Germany Central (Frankfurt).
If the region you selected is other than the Home region then More Oracle Cloud
Services option is not display in the Hamburger menu.

6 HOW TO ACCESS IDCS CONSOLE
1. Click on the hamburger menu and in the drop down lists select “Identity” option.
2. In the Idenetity option choose “Federation” and after that you redirected to the next
page.

3. There are two method through which you can access the console, the first method is
to directly click on the link which is in “Oracle Identity Cloud Service Console”.

4. The second method is to click on the “Oracle Identity cloud service” link.
5. After landing on the next page just click on the link under “Oracle Identity Cloud
Service Console” then you redirected to the console page.

6. After clicking the link you will be landed to the console page.
This Section Complete accessing IDCS console.

7 HOW TO SUBSCRIBE TO A NEW REGION
7.1 First Method to subscribe to
new region
1. From the taskbar drop down, click on Manage Region.
2. New page open and you can see differen regions where you can subscribe of your choice by clicking on
“Subscribe to this Region” button.

Note: Whenever you subscribe to a new region, it will converted to green means the region is now activated
to take use.
7.2 Second Method to Subscribe
to a New Region
1. Click on Hamburger Menu scroll down and click on “Administration” and then click on “Tenancy Details”.
By using this method you directly landed to the “Regions” Page

7.3 How to Switch to other
Regions
1. After the region was successfully subscribed, From the taskbar drop down menu, click on Manage
Region, then select different region which you want to choose.
2. Then you see the region has now changed.

This section complete about subscribe to a new region.

8 HOW TO RAISE SR (SERVICE REQUEST) & HOW TO FIND THE CSI
NUMBER FOR YOUR ACCOUNT: FROM CONSOLE
Step 1: login to your cloud account https://cloud.oracle.com/home
Step 2: On the top right side for your console, you will see a ? (Question Mark). Click on that &
you will find the details there:
Step 3: From the drop down menu click on “Contact Support”.

Step 3: When you click on the Contact Support, it will redirect you to

Here you get the steps which you have to follow to create service request.

You can also Chat with Oracle support, you can get a popup on your dashboard or else when you
click on (?), you will see below the option to chat with support.
Note: To Create a Cloud Service Request (SR), Please follow the (Doc ID 1484944.1)

9 SERVICE LIMIT IN ORACLE CLOUD
9.1 Requesting For Service Limit
Increase
When you will deploy the E-Bussiness Suite (R12) on OCI, 4 compute will be required, 1 for Apps,
1 for DB, 1 for your Load Balancer & one for EBS Cloud Manager VM. So we need to reuest for
Service Limit Increase.
Note: You can increase service limit of any resource on Oracle cloud but as of now we need
comute only.
Check below Steps for how to Increase:
1. Open the Help menu (Help menu icon), go to Support and click Request service limit
increase.
2. Enter the following:
 Primary Contact Details: Enter the name and email address of the person making
the request. Enter one email address only. A confirmation will be sent to this
address.
 Service Category: Select the appropriate category for your request.
 Resource: Select the appropriate resource.
Depending on your selection for resource, additional fields might display for more
specific information.

 Reason for Request: Enter a reason for your request. If your request is urgent or
unusual, please provide details here.
Note: When you clone using EBS Cloud Manager Console, the instance get cloned within the
Same AD where your EBS Cloud Manager exist.
So for this you need more service Limit

After you submit the request, the request is reviewed. If your request is awarded, a confirmation
email is sent to the address provided in the primary contact details. If we need additional
information about your request, a follow-up email is sent to the address provided in the primary
contact details.
Once you Submit the Request, It will take upto 72 to 96 hours from oracle side to update on your
request.

You will get mail from oracle like below:
9.2 Check Your Tenancy Limits
From The Console
1. Open the Console, click on Hamburger Menu then go to Administration and then click Tenancy Details.

2. Click Service Limits on the left side of the page.
3. Your resource limits and usage for the specific region are displayed, broken out by service. If a given
resource type has limits per availability domain, the limit and usage for each availability domain is displayed.

10 TROUBLESHOOTING
10.1 No supported Authentication
methods available.
10.1.1 ISSUE:
One of our trainees has created one database instance on cloud and after that, he was
trying to connect to the instance via Putty (SSH) but was getting below error message.
PUTTY Fatal Error:
Disconnected: No supported authentication methods available (server sent:
publickey, gssapi-keyex, gssapi-with-mic
10.1.2 CAUSE: SSH CONNECTIVITY ISSUE
There could be 2 cause of this issue:
1. Your SSH port 22 is not open from internet in Cloud Firewall
2. SSH Public key you generated was not generated or not uploaded properly while
creating the instance (or you are not using Private Key Properly in Putty).
10.1.3 HOW TO CHECK IF SSH PORT 22 IS OPEN
In order to find if SSH port 22 is open on Cloud from Internet, use telnet from machine you
are connecting.
telnet <public IP of Machine> 22

If port is open you should see output like
Trying 129.154.72.105…
Connected to .129.154.72.105
Escape character is ‘^]’.
In our case port 22 was not open across Firewall on Cloud
10.1.4 FIX:
1. For first cause mentioned above, make sure you have opened the SSH port 22. To open
the SSH Port 22, create a Security Rule to allow ssh port from Network tab as shown
below.

2. For the second (Wrong Certificates or wrong configuration in Putty), Try to avoid copy-
paste key while creating an instance. Instead of that save and browse the public key
file from the saved location.
10.2 Select 2.2 Compute Shape to
create a Database
Note: If you select compute shape 1.1, you will get below error while creating a database:
So, Please select compute shape 2.2 to successfully creation of DB.

10.3 Credit Card was Declined:
While creating Free Oracle
Cloud Account
Issue: While Creating Cloud Account, if your card get declined & if you are getting Error: Credit Card was Declined
Fix:
1. Try with Visa or MasterCard
2. Check with your Bank: Are payments to US allowed
3. Please contact your credit card company and ask them to allow this transaction and try again.
Still, If you get the issue then please contact Oracle Support.
