2. Canada occupies the northern part of the continent of
North America and it is the second largest country in
the world. It stretches across the continent from the
Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. Its southern border
meets the United States and it goes north to the Arctic
Ocean.
Canada has the longest coastline in the world (202,080
kilometres). It has also got around 31,700 large lakes,
more than any other country, containing much of the
world’s fresh water.
3. Average winter and summer temperatures across
Canada vary from region to region. Winter can be
harsh in many parts of the country and in noncoastal
regions snow can cover the ground for almost six
months of the year. Between the coasts, the average
summer high temperature ranges from 25 to 30
degrees Celsius.
4. Canada is a developed country and one of the
wealthiest in the world and stands among the world’s
most educated countries. It is officially bilingual(English
and French). It is one of the world’s most ethnically
diverse and multicultural nations with a population of
approximately 35 million.
5. The country consists of 10 Provinces and 3 territories.
