Golgi Apparatus?

a type of cell organelles that processes and
packages protein and lipid molecules.
• Rogers, K. (2022), defined Golgi apparatus as
a responsible transporter, modifier, and
packager of proteins and lipids molecules.

Camillo Golgi in 1898.
• It was one of the first organelles of the cell

nervous system.
• Golgi referred Golgi as the “internal

• In 1910, the organelle became named for
him.

GOLGI APPARATUS
LOCATE IN THE CELL?

membranes that are in the CYTOPLASM as were
stated by Mauldin, A. (n.d).
• It is also located near NUCLUES and
ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM which is called
as PERINUCLEAR BODY as were stated by
National Human Genome Research Institute
(2022).

FUNCTION OF GOLGI
APPARATUS
• Important site of formation of glycoproteins and
glycolipids.
• Its function is to process and package the proteins that
have exited the rough endoplasmic reticulum, which
further be transported inside or outside of the cell.
• It is a factory of protein, in which the proteins received by
endoplasmic reticulum are further processed and sorted
for transport to several destinations, the lysosomes, plasma
membrane, or secretion.

FUNCTION OF GOLGI
APPARATUS
• In PLANT CELL, Golgi apparatus serve as site of complex which
the complex polysaccharide of cell wall was synthesis.
• A part of a cell that have broad range of cellular constituents,
travel along various pathways.
• The Golgi apparatus modifies proteins and lipids that it receives
from the endoplasmic reticulum. These biochemicals leave the
Golgi by EXOCYTOSIS before being delivered to different
intracellular or extracellular targets.

OF GOLGI COMPLEX
Golgi apparatus have four various components,

• Singular: Cisterna
• 5-8 folds of cisternae.
• It is a flat disc shaped sacks
with swollen ends, curved,
parallelly arranged, and
smooth membrane sacks.
• The curvature of the
cisternae gives polarity to
cisternae.
• Diameter (cisterna): 0.5-1. o
μm (micrometer)

with the endoplasmic

point into the Golgi apparatus.

point for vesicles budding off
the Golgi surface, packages,
and sorts biochemicals into the
vesicles according to their

• This are small
sacs which are
developed from
the tubules.

by fine bristle-like
outgrowths.

25. GOLGI VACUOLES
• large, rounded sacs. It
was produced by concave
surface of Golgi
apparatus. One of the
functions is lysosomes,
which composed of
granular substances.
Larger than vesicles.
