1. Q3. What kind of media institution might distribute
you media product and why?
By Katherine Wiles
2. Big Major Companies
• Major companies such as Universal tend to
distribute quiet big budget film such as Thor: The
dark world.
• A company like universal is very recognizable and
will reach large audiences all other the world.
However they are also able to target specific
audiences.
• Big companies like this will not really care if one
of the films they distributed does not make its
money back as they have loads of other films that
will be bringing in a profit.
3. Small Indie Company
• Distributes such as Studio Cannel distributes a
number of different film such as very small
budget films like In Fear. They even distributed
Silver Lining Playbook.
• Small distribution companies reach niche
audiences.
• They are able to do more risky things when it
comes to the film.
4. • A company like studio cannel would be the best
distributer for our film. As they distribute films such as
In Fear which is a British film with a small budget and
focuses on a niche audience.
• However it is likely that our film may be independently
distributed. For example we could use CreateSpace
which will allows us to submit the film and any artwork
electronically this is all completely free. Our film will
then be available to sell as professionally-made DVDs
on Amazon at Amazon.com it will also be able to be
sold as a video on demand. It is a guaranteed and
instantaneous form of distribution. This will be the best
form of distribution if we were not able to put the film
in cinema.
5. Break Free Productions
• Break Free productions is a
company which our group
created. It is a small
production company which
only does small
independent British films.
We thought this would be
the most appropriate
company. This was due to
the fact that Weirdly
Connected is a small SyFy
film and will not attract
larger production
companies.
