3. Experience:
May 12 – to date / Pokerloco Malta Ltd. – Chief Financial Officer
Overall control of the companies financial aspects. Treasury functions, cash accounting,
budget control, forecasting, financial statements, cash flows, are standard duties I take
care of for the company. There is also the day to day running and monitoring of the
companies overall performance whilst recognising any abnormal movements.
Implemented new accounting software and new procedures for the whole group.
Analysed the companies overall overheads and reduced the overheads by 20% in the first
2 months of employment.
Dealt with recruitment of all new employees within the company. Handling of all
contract negotiations especially in relation to the payment gateways providers since we
became our own cashier.
May 08 – April 12 / EC – Finance Executive
My first 3 months of employment within EC was to act as a credit controller for the
summer period to help out in chasing agents and any direct students for payment. I then
moved to the role I was originally employed for.
I currently am handling the preparation of management accounts for 5 of the schools held
by EC. I will be adding on another school in 2011. Apart from the preparation of monthly
management accounts I also handle the following:
- Preparation of cash flow forecasts on a monthly basis
- Preparation for interim and final audits including assisting auditors were needed
- Helping out in the preparation of yearly budgets.
- Setting up new procedures and making sure all are uniformly adhered to.
Another main task I have been given is the training of all bookkeepers under the area I
take care of being UK, South Africa and Malta. Training is given via Skype and on site
when necessary. This means travelling is involved.
June 07 – May 08 / Sprachcaffe – Accounts Manager
Was employed as an Accounts Manager with Sprachcaffe in Malta and relocated to
Brighton. I was given the responsibility to handle the accounts for the four companies
situated in the UK. Decision-making was one of my main tasks including interviews,
decisions on whom to pay and many more. My duties involved handling all cash related
movements and preparation of monthly cash flow statements. Preparing the quarterly
VAT return. Monthly payroll for the four companies was another of my tasks.
4. Preparation of monthly financial reports for the Financial Controller and Director.
Beginning of 2008 my main task was to implement a new accounting package and to get
it running as quickly as possible. New procedures were implemented due to the change in
the accounting software used.
March 05 – June 07 / DI Ltd. – Assistant Accountant
Returned to DI Ltd. as Happi Group had to close down. My duties remained the same but
this time I am more involved in the preparation of monthly Management Accounts, as we
do not have an accountant. Other duties that I have to handle are filling in of NSO
questionnaires, preparing VAT returns on a monthly basis. Monitor all Sales account
including chasing for payments.
April 04 – February 05 / HappiGroup Ltd. – Financial Coordinator
Was employed as a Financial Coordinator with HappiGroup Ltd., an Online Betting
Company. My duties involved structuring a new accounts department, as it was still a
new business. I handled all relating accounting issues up to Management Accounts. I
took care of the calculation of winnings and the distribution of winnings to all winners
accordingly. Also handled all customer financial issues relating to payments and if need
be issuing charge backs accordingly. I handled any problems when paying to play, being
it a credit card fault or wire transfer problem. I set up a business relationship with
Western Union to commence receipts of payments to our local bank. Handled all banks
overseas and monitored all movements. Apart from day to day duties I kept myself
involved in the IT related issues. Proof reading the website for any errors. I would also
help by giving an input for new ideas than can be used for the website.
April 02 – April 04 / DI Ltd. – Assistant Accountant
My duties consisted of all related accounting issues up to the Trial Balance Stage. I
handled all postings to the purchases, sales, cash and nominal accounts. At the end of
every month I would prepare bank reconciliation’s, also reconciliation of creditors and
debtors and chasing debtors for payments. I would assist the Accountant in preparing
monthly Management Accounts. I would analyse specific accounts so as to confirm that
the correct entries have been posted.
June 99 – April 02 / Foster Clark Products Ltd. – Accounts Clerk
My duties here mainly consisted of taking care of bank related issues such as posting of
payments and receipts using Sun Systems. I handled all payments to local and foreign
suppliers. At the end of every month I reconciled all the bank accounts.
