2. Movie Genre
I’ve decided to use the romantic comedy genre for my
film. I’ve chosen this because it’s one of my many
favourite movie genres to watch.
This is a good genre to use when trying to present teenagers, as
the majority of romantic comedies star teenagers who like
someone but end up being stupid around them.
An example of a romantic comedy (starring teenagers) would be
‘Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging’. It presents the romance
and comedy aspects through the teenage characters and also
portrays the typical teenage romantic comedy through them as
well.
3. Protagonist
My protagonist for my film would be Bailee Madison. This is
because she is one of my favourite actresses. (Her name will
be Rebecca).
Bailee is 17 years old, making her the typical age for a
relationship. This means that she is a perfect person to play
the main role in a romantic comedy.
She is known for her roles in ‘Bride To Terabithia’ and ‘Just
Go With It’, where she was very upbeat and very funny. This
trait also makes her perfect for the main role in a romantic
comedy.
4. What kind of teenagers
will feature in my movie?
My movie will feature the typical High School
Teenagers.
This will include:
• The Football Players
• The Mean/Popular Girls
• The Nerds/Geeks/Misfits
• The Stereotypical Romantic Teen Couples
I’ve chosen to include these teenagers in my
movie as they are the typical stereotypes for
any teenage movie (especially one based in a
High School). These groups of teenagers will
be easy to include in the movie as there are
many ways in which you can portray them.
5. What’s the basic storyline?
My Storyline:
Rebecca (Bailee Madison) doesn’t fit in with any of the groups at school and no
one really speaks to her. She’s the girl who sits at the back of the class, gets good
grades and does all the right things. Rebecca gets chosen to be the tutor of the
“bad boy” of the class, Gabe, because he’s not reaching the grades he should be.
He’s part of the popular crowd and so he thinks she’s beneath him. But they get to
know each other during their tutoring sessions and become really close. Rebecca
shoots straight up the popularity scale and gains some new enemies (from the
mean/popular girls) at the school. Rebecca struggles to fit in again, even with a
crowd, but realising that she has feelings for Gabe makes it harder. She tells him
how she feels, but he shuts her down. She finds out that the “main” girl from the
mean crowd is blackmailing Gabe so that she can destroy Rebecca’s life. They end
up together after lots of struggle with their typical high school stress.
6. Where will my movie
mainly take place?
My movie will mainly take place in the
High School that my protagonist
attends. This is to let me show the
stereotyped lives that teenagers are
thought to go through at school.
There will also be occasional times
where the movie takes place at my
protagonists house, as the tutoring
sessions will be held there. This will also
allow me to show the difference
between my protagonists school life and
home life.
7. Who will you be aiming
your movie at?
I will be aiming my movie towards the
teenage generation. More specifically,
the female teenagers. This is because
my movie follows a typical “chick flick”
storyline that would more likely appeal
to the female population.
8. Who are my villains likely
to be?
The main villains in my film would be
the Mean/Popular Girls at the High
School. There would also be a couple
of minor villains who join in with the
villains during my movie.
Using a stereotyped high school
teenage crowd as my villains will
allow me to open up the aspect of
bullying and other situations that
teenagers have to deal with today,
making it a perfect way to portray
teenagers in my movie.
