HAPPINESS IS A BUTTERFLY
Inspiration for this project came from Lana Del Rey’s
latest album NFR! Each color palette is named after
a song, and each color name is a song lyric from the
album. This project was created in Adobe Illustrator
and is inspired by prominent color trends of the 2019
Fall/Winter season. Photos taken by me.

The theme, title, and colors for this project were a collaborative effort, but the
composition is my own work. The decided theme was vampires. I wanted the mood
board to have a classic and luxurious feel, so I took a lot of inspiration from Old
Hollywood. The board was created in Photoshop.

BOTTOMS UP!
This is a poster for a fashion exhibition at Stephens
College. The collection will explore the home
entertainment trend of the late 1940’s to the early
1960’s. I painted the image with acrylic on paper, and
then scanned it into Adobe InDesign.

For this project I began with a mood board to capture the feel I wanted for my personal
branding. From that I created a type logo for my business card, letterhead, and resume. I then
drew the image of the cat for my business card and letterhead to add a more personal touch. I
used mostly Adobe InDesign and created the mood board and cat drawing in Photoshop.

THE BRIDE
The idea behind this photo shoot was to capture the
romantic and dreamy feelings that one might have
the day of their wedding. I was inspired by vintage
wedding portraits and the makeup is a recreation of
Lily Collins’ look for the 2019 Met Gala.

TEENAGE MANIA
This look was the first time I had done makeup
on someone else for a shoot. It was inspired by
experimental social media makeup and outfit trends.
I wanted to capture that teenage angst feeling mixed
with wanting to rebel against the norm.

GHOST GIRL
For this shoot I wanted to do something a bit darker
and more surreal than my usual style. The focus
wasn’t on the makeup and costume. My focus was on
creating an art piece, sort of like something I would
draw come to life.

THE YOUNG INDEPENDENT DESIGNERS
OF ST. LOUIS
This feature story explores the fashion talent evident
in young designers from St. Louis. Each of the
designers interviewed have a brand that they created
and are working on perfecting. Vaughn Lewis will be
releasing a denim line by the end of the year and Karli
Mehrle and Carrah McDaniel are currently students at
Stephens College.
