• Accessibility not seen as a priority or our issue.
• ‘We are lucky we do not have may disabled students’
• Seen as a quality assurance not integral part of design
• It has always been done that way’, a one off fix.
• Guidelines seem scary and there is a feeling of a lack of
consequences if we do not meet them.
Change takes time…

• Agile change, use the tools we have for the platforms of the
future
• New guidelines - Public and private accessibility regulations

‘Designing for accessibility shouldn't be a thing. I really believe that. We
should instead design for the needs and preferences of all people, whoever
they are. If we don't, we design barriers for some of those people and then
we have to use accessibility to remove the barriers we have created.’

You don’t have to be an expert in all areas, to raise awareness but I have a thirst for learning more.
I have been inspired by the last few years by the mantra ‘making a difference. After having my family and seeking a rewarding roles I was introduced to accessibility, and I have not looked back.
The power of the ripple I will never know who I have helped but I know I am making a difference.
I really love my job. I look forward getting into he nitty gritty of the evaluation and finding solutions to stem the flow of inaccessible content. Shift left.
