Analyze Learners
My class is a 4th grade class. It consists of 11 girls and 9 boys, which gives me 20 students
overall. There are 2 Muslims, 3 Jewish children, and 2 African American children in the
classroom.
State Objective
My 4th grade students will be introduced to different ethnic holiday traditions, with a brief
introduction by each ethnic groups recollection of how they celebrate their holiday. Students will
be able to create manipulatives representative of each students ethnic holiday tradition. Students
will sing songs associated with each holiday tradition. Students will be able to recite traditional
holiday songs or describe the importance of the holiday manipulative they were assigned with
80% accuracy by the end of the two day lesson.
Select Methods, Media, and Materials
Students will use scissors, glue, colored paper, crayons, glitter, and paper lanterns to make their
holiday manipulative. Computers will be available for students to research information about the
holiday traditions, and what items are representative of the holiday. I will use a smart board to
display lyrics to holiday songs.
2. Utilize Methods, Media, and Materials
Before the lesson begins, I will go around and make sure that the students have all the materials
they will need to create the manipulatives. I will also make sure the smart board is ready, and the
computers are working properly.
Require Learner Participation
Students will present their manipulative to the class and share the information that they learned.
Additionally, students will be required to sing along to the different holiday songs.
Evaluate and Revise
I will evaluate my students by observing their participation and the information they present.
