1. Overall context
1. Teacher development - context of new requirements (NCF) and new
syllabus
2. Old and new challenges of government schools (media, medium,
community)
3. Teacher education <> workshops
4. Centralised models of TE and resource creation not responsive enough,
does not provide space and time for peer learning and continuous mentoring
5. Insufficient support on-site, at school
6. Teachers isolated from one another
2. Challenges in teaching-learning materials
1. “Text Book” culture – covering text book as the main goal of teaching
2. Static materials, cannot be revised based on experiences
3. Supplementary materials prepared and printed, may not be available when
needed, where needed
3. ITfC objective – Strengthen / Reimagine teacher-education
1. Connecting teachers for peer learning and continuous mentoring
2. Providing opportunities for collaboratively creating materials and sharing –
contextual and dynamic
4. STF new networked model for TE, creating a PLC (Professional Learning
Community)
1. Learning through peer learing, mentoring

3. Provide possibilities of continuous learning through virtual forums (email
lists)
4. Can ask for help when needed and get supported
5. Can share ideas, resources when prepared
5. Status
1. 6,000 teachers trained across all 34 districts.
2. STF established in mathematics, science, social science, english and school
leadership.
3. 35,000 emails in 3 years, 80%+ on academic issues and issues concerning
teachers.
4. Planned for Kannada in 2014-15.
6. Testing of these ideas in schools through Bangalore South 3 TCOL
1. All GHS taken up for intensive work in Mathematician and English for
2014-15, aim to integrate STF ideas at school level
2. Need approval for new ideas in implementing CCE in these schools

2. Materials can be updated as and when needed
3. Materials being shared by teachers on STF being made available through
KOER
8. Status
1. 4,000 web pages created, over 500,000 web views by teachers across
state.
2. Class IX and X new text books topics covered.
3. Resource creation using multiple software tools – Geogebra (maths), Phet
(Science), Marble (social science), Free mind (lesson planning, analytical
thinking) + text/audio/video/image editors
4. Constructivist ways of looking at content/methodology
5. By teachers, of teachers, for teachers
6. Subject resources + teacher education resources
9. STF and KOER is not typical teacher training but methods of TPD and CMDE
1. Hence as a policy of DSERT
2. All training programmes should join teachers to virtual forums/groups
for continued interactions
3. All materials should be made available on KOER for access and
updating

4. KOER materials review on a regular basis – need a TE-OER steering group

2. DIET CTE Wiki – need a training on wiki editing for DIET/CTE faculty
3. Extend the STF model for DIET/ CTE faculty for TPACK integration to be
internalized
