7. PMP Examination
Information
The PMP examination is comprised of 180
questions. Of the 180 questions, 5 are
considered pretest questions. Pretest questions
do not affect the score and are used in
examinations as an effective and legitimate
way to test the validity of future examination
questions. All questions are randomly placed
throughout the examination.
The new exam is comprised of:
180 questions (the previous exam
was 200) but the same number of
questions will be scored
230 minutes to complete the
exam
One additional break for a total of
two 10-minute breaks for computer-
based tests. No scheduled breaks for
paper-based exams.
9. Reexamination
You are granted a one-year eligibility
period in which to pass the examination.
During the eligibility period, you may take
the examination up to three times because
candidates do not always pass the
examination on their first attempt. Gauge
your time carefully to leave enough time
during the eligibility period to retake the
examination, if needed.
Reexamination fees apply to the second
and third attempts to pass the examination.
