Our video game, “Contrast” is a 2D game that will
explore into multiple genres within one game. Each
level will show the game in a different perspective
through the medium of various genres to create an
immersiveexperience for the player and to show
how interesting each genreis.
SynopsisofIdea (content,
narrative,genre)
The purposebehind this projectis to showcaseour
team’s individual game-development skills. With 6
people working in unison in a group, it is clear to
know that we have different interests and different
ideas when comes to games, music, art styles etc.
Using this we can create a game with many varying
game styles, be it a Platformer, Hack and Slash or a
Horror game, we havedifferent ideas for game,
which we plan to merge into one, through the use
of gameplay and audio such as music or foley
artistry that you would anticipate fromdifferent
genres.
Target Audience?
(demographicNOTage range)
The audience can vary widely between males and
females but more targeted towards a teenage to
young adult demographic due to the game being
quite reminiscent of early dungeon crawler games
like The Legend Of Zelda Franchisewhich would
have been around in the time that the demographic
was starting to play video games, aiming for a
nostalgic feeling towards the game that will bring
back memories.
How will your project meet the
needs of your target audience?
Our game will appeal to the demographic with the
wide varying ranges of genres whilst also working
heavily on audio such as music, foley artistry as well
as pleasing pixel based art to better suitthe
different gameplay elements.
Whatproductiontechniques
will you use to realise your
project?
Using different forms of 2D spritebased programs
such as GameMaker, Photoshop and even
something like RPG Maker we will create a game
pleasing to see, play and hear.
With Reaper sound softwareit’s possible to
manipulate sounds and music we make to better
suit our different genres within the game.
