• The tradition of All Saints Day has its
orgins in the ancient Celtic festival of
"Samhain" (the death of the body). For our
ancestors it started the new year.We have
to remember that the Celts were farmers
and their harriest for sawing winter crops
began around November.The feast of All
Saints put in place for the whole church
Gregory IV in 834 as a memory of the
dead relatives.

In the Polish tradition cemeteries are
the symbol of the end of a certain stage of
the road to eternity. One of the signs at
the entrance to the cemetery in the village of
Serpelice emphatically reminds:
„Here ends the greatness of the world”
